10,000 Volt Ghost May 26th, 2011 11:33 AM

Pirates: On stranger tides. I really liked it. Even though it had a new director the shots were still very solid. The plot made sense. Some scenes were in caves and it really brought the feel of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride to life moreso than any of the other films.

Ex Leper May 26th, 2011 01:03 PM

Terror Firmer

Tadao May 26th, 2011 01:15 PM

OH GEEZ

10,000 Volt Ghost May 26th, 2011 02:56 PM

Terror Firmer is one of my favorite films. Definitely the best Troma movie.

Kitsa May 26th, 2011 04:18 PM

I still like Cannibal! The Musical the best, but Terror Firmer is pretty good.

The director's commentary on Cannibal is way better than the actual movie.

Ex Leper May 26th, 2011 05:42 PM

I've only seen the ones Doc Mock played and a few others. I'll probably watch Tromeo & Juliet next. I need to go through all the ones on Hulu

10,000 Volt Ghost May 26th, 2011 06:57 PM

You need to watch more. Lloyd Kaufman is one of my heroes.

kahljorn May 26th, 2011 07:57 PM

WALTER KAUFMAN IS ONE OF MY HEROES

KAHLJORN COUGHMAN IS ALSO MY HERO

dextire May 26th, 2011 09:32 PM

I also saw Pirates 4. The absolute best 3D film I've ever seen. Really amazing. :)

Fathom Zero May 26th, 2011 09:44 PM

Was the newest Nightmare on Elm Street worth watching at all? I was kinda interested at the time and it's pretty cheap to watch now.

dextire May 26th, 2011 10:07 PM

It was better than I thought it would be. I liked it a hell of a lot more than the Halloween and Friday the 13th remakes.

Babs May 26th, 2011 10:44 PM

I almost completely forgot about the Nightmare on Elm St. remake. I remember RoG saying something on here about don't go and waste your money and wait until it's available on DVD to "get". Guess I have something to watch tonight, nothing to lose.

Tadao May 26th, 2011 11:58 PM

I've seen it. It took me 5 tries to finish it. My mind kept wandering.

darkvare May 28th, 2011 01:02 PM

the hangover 2 is similar to the first but a lot nastier still pretty funny though

Shrubfest May 28th, 2011 03:46 PM

I'm watching the Star Wars films. Having never seen them before.

Babs May 28th, 2011 04:07 PM

Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, best of the best. Plinkett would agree.

Esuohlim May 28th, 2011 04:28 PM

I saw BRIDESMAIDS a couple days ago, and while I may have left my testicles in the theater I WILL SAY that it was pretty damn funny and I'm glad I saw it.

10,000 Volt Ghost May 28th, 2011 04:57 PM

The one preview for Bridesmaids is all like "THE FIRST CHICK MOVIE THAT ISN'T TERRIBLE"

10,000 Volt Ghost May 28th, 2011 05:09 PM

Also saw previews for BAD Teacher and THE NEW MUPPETS movie. I'm pretty sure they are both the same movie.

Also, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_and_Eric%27s_Billion_Dollar_Movie

Fathom Zero May 28th, 2011 07:01 PM

A billion dollars to make a movie. :lol

Also, that has the greatest cast I've ever seen.

Ex Leper May 28th, 2011 08:09 PM

The Muppets haven't had a good movie or telefilm since 1996. Hopefully Segel will be able to save them. At the very least Thog is back.

10,000 Volt Ghost May 28th, 2011 11:15 PM

I've always wanted to see the show and I'm finally watching it. Its pretty good but there are like a hundred dudes in it.

alec baldwin
Ian mckellen
Jonathan winters
Tim curry

Like every asian guy from the 90s

Some other guys

Tadao May 29th, 2011 01:00 AM

I'm interested in seeing Bridesmaids.

Kitsa May 29th, 2011 08:45 AM

I have an old Muppet Show backpack from the 80s that I'm considering washing and putting back into regular use. I was all about the Muppet Show. Especially Madeleine Kahn. :(

Just got "The Other Boleyn Girl" that came up in Netflix, but am hesitant to watch again. Mostly because I hate fictionalized accounts of Tudor history. Mostly anything of value gets taken out and replaced with OOOOH, PRETTY DRESSES. Although I did enjoy the whole depiction of Anne Boleyn's brother regularly buttraping his wife in The Tudors. That may have actually happened, considering how much she hated him.

Anyway.

Mad Melvin May 29th, 2011 11:20 AM

The new Pirates of the Caribbean in 3D. It was alright, I guess. Really boring at times and some of the new characters were 2 dimensional as fuck and no amount of 3D effects didn't change that. On the other hand I really liked the mermaids and Black Beard was ok too.

Kitsa May 29th, 2011 02:17 PM

"The Other Boleyn Girl". What a horrendous piece of shit that was, despite the best efforts of perfectly respectable actresses Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johannsen. If historical accuracy could cause injury, that movie would have a papercut.

Much as I figured it would be, they wadded up the majority of the actual history and tossed it aside to revel in playing Pretty Princess.

Esuohlim May 30th, 2011 03:29 AM

I can't believe I waited this long to finally see Reservoir Dogs, but it's fucking fantastic. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a movie this much, it's even better than Pulp Fiction.

kahljorn May 30th, 2011 04:11 AM

A SNAKECHARMER.. A FUCKING DOCTOR!

Fathom Zero May 30th, 2011 04:15 AM

I have a Marvin Nash action figure. He's in a box with Two-Face at the moment.

I thought it was a stinker. Definitely not worth the 9 bucks I spent to watch it.

A great Pogo style ripoff using this film

Fathom Zero May 30th, 2011 08:10 PM

Pogo really liked it. He's a Dainumo fan.

Colonel Flagg May 30th, 2011 09:22 PM

Saw Pirates in 2D with my son, 2 of his friends and my 8-year old daughter. This may have been the first movie we all saw together that we all enjoyed equally. That says something.

Dimnos May 30th, 2011 09:40 PM

Was Blackbeard a bad ass?

dextire May 30th, 2011 11:02 PM

Finally saw The King's Speech. The most I've enjoyed an over-hyped movie since The Dark Knight. :)
Geoffrey Rush is incredibly awesome in it.

Kitsa May 30th, 2011 11:04 PM

I liked it too. I heard there was a televised version without the swearing bit and thought that would be doing the movie a major disservice.

Tadao May 30th, 2011 11:06 PM

I don't think it was over hyped.

10,000 Volt Ghost May 30th, 2011 11:16 PM

He was a total badas.

Yeah, I don't think anyone could make the case that the swearing was unnecessary.

And yes Dimnos, Blackbeard was badass as all hell! :rock

Mad Melvin May 31st, 2011 06:57 PM

Battle: Los Angeles

More like Aliens and Explosions. Thats all it was. I just watched it and I have already forgotten the majority of the movie. There were no characters I cared about and the shaky cam started to piss me off in the first 10 minutes. Yeah, it's a intense battle. We get it. No need to shake the fucking camera around like a junkie in withdrawal. They even casually stole the "explosion makes character momentarily deaf" bit from Saving Private Ryan. Even the special effects failed to impress.

A waste of time.

darkvare Jun 4th, 2011 01:55 AM

the new x men movie really a lot better than i was expecting

i don't wanna spoil it but yeah he is pretty bad ass

Tadao Jun 5th, 2011 07:14 PM

Zhukov reminded me that I watched Whip It. Pretty fun movie, I don't know what else to say about it. It's got a good story, funny scenes, good acting. All the things a normal movies should have.

Also watched Lovely Bones last night. Shit got trippy and to top it off it was backed by a bunch of Eno.

It wasn't terrible but more action would have been nice.

Kitsa Jun 6th, 2011 12:03 AM

I was in Niagara Falls over the weekend so I watched that imax movie (again, same movie they've been showing for 10+ years now). It was ok. It sort of glossed over a lot and, with the exception of the whole legend of the "Maid of the Mist" in the beginning (suicide in a canoe), they only focused on the people who went over the falls and survived. I'd have done the exact opposite, in order to persuade dipshits that it really isn't the greatest idea. The drop might feel awesome but then there are those rocks at the bottom, and the suffocation while you're waiting to be hauled in.

The funniest part for me was when they opened the doors to let us out and were trying to channel us past a giagantic wall of DVD copies to buy for some crazy amount and take home. They said we could use our ticket stubs for a small discount. I bet a lot of people do it, too.

darkkitten Jun 6th, 2011 02:09 AM

Was it in the pyramid building movie theater?

Kitsa Jun 6th, 2011 03:30 PM

yep.

Mad Melvin Jun 6th, 2011 03:42 PM

Super

It was pretty good. A LOT darker than I expected.

Also, Kevin Bacon.

dextire Jun 6th, 2011 07:36 PM

Skyline. If Asylum had a huge FX budget I'd imagine this movie would be the result. :)

Tadao Jun 6th, 2011 10:27 PM

Skyline was horrible.

10,000 Volt Ghost Jun 6th, 2011 10:46 PM

I don't use suround sound that often but watching tombstone with it on. Holy shit it kicks ass. Also the first time watching tombstone.

dextire Jun 6th, 2011 10:50 PM

Tombstone is awesome with any sound. Also watch The Quick and the Dead if you haven't.

Kitsa Jun 6th, 2011 11:04 PM

@10K: Last time I went to see that IMAX movie was when I was going to school in Ithaca, like 2 hours away from the falls, and it was just something to do. They had a big gift shop, but not the NatGeo one that's there now. We exited through this weird brick building that had a couple more souvenir shops and this abandoned food court.

At the abandoned food court, I was intercepted by an Indian gentleman who wheedled us into eating something at his restaurant. For some reason, I actually agreed to this. My now-ex was asked to help him open the shutters of this food-court restaurant, and there was his entire family seemingly living in this little area behind the counter. And they all just sprang to work making naan and whatnot like they'd been waiting for this their whole lives.

It's the most uncomfortable meal I've ever eaten.

10,000 Volt Ghost Jun 6th, 2011 11:54 PM

:lol prob the best damn indian food ever though. Punjob indians or native american canadian indians?

Dimnos Jun 7th, 2011 12:32 AM

My new bother in law is a India indian and he makes the BEST fucking curry. :yum

10,000 Volt Ghost Jun 7th, 2011 01:07 AM

There were a ton of awesome parts in tombstone. I'm torn between two favorites. when the bartender tells a guy hes had enough to drink and the drunk guy is all like "i don't take no mouth from no bartender" then slapping the bartender across the face.

A then the multiple rampage montages towards the end where they just go around merc'ing fools.

Kitsa Jun 7th, 2011 01:44 AM

I don't remember it being horrible. I just remember sitting in an abandoned food court eating naan and some sort of vegetarian korma while the man's whole family stared at me from the counter of the booth they'd opened just for us.

I felt so bad I played American and left a big tip.

He was northern Indian. I know he wasn't a Sikh.

10,000 Volt Ghost Jun 7th, 2011 10:22 AM

There's a really good restaurant around there too that is shaped like an U.F.O. too.

Kitsa Jun 7th, 2011 11:16 AM

I've heard that the breakfasts are great but everything else sucks.

Didn't watch any movies last night, just an ep of Dexter :moviethread

My favorite 5 minutes

Dimnos Jun 7th, 2011 04:51 PM

My favorite part is when that guy is sneaking up on Erp with a shotgun and Doc yells his name out real loud. He looks totally confused and all "oh I wasnt doing nothing with this here scatter gun. Please don't kill me." :lol

Dingus Knucklehumper Jun 7th, 2011 07:49 PM

Heh

Yeah I couldn't find a clip with just that part

Mad Melvin Jun 8th, 2011 05:17 PM

Drive Angry

LOOK EVERYBODY! 3D! COMINATCHA!

The only thing I liked was that William Fichtner guy.

Tadao Jun 8th, 2011 05:34 PM

I have Drive Angry, I hope it isn't gay. :(

Mad Melvin Jun 8th, 2011 05:38 PM

Fathom Zero Jun 8th, 2011 05:40 PM

Fathom Zero Jun 8th, 2011 06:14 PM

It is! You should watch that!

10,000 Volt Ghost Jun 8th, 2011 06:20 PM

it was interesting to say the least

Esuohlim Jun 10th, 2011 02:15 AM

Mulholland Drive is on my list of movies I want to watch eventually. That and Fargo. Those are the only two I remember right now :(

kahljorn Jun 10th, 2011 03:02 AM

i like fargo a lot :(

muholland drive is ok

Mad Melvin Jun 10th, 2011 05:51 AM

Fargo is one of my favorite movies. I've watched it about 20 times in my lifetime.

Yesterday I watched Paul. You know, the Alien movie with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. It was watchable. There weren't that much laugh-out-loud moments, but it had kind of a charming nerdy feel to it. It's not nearly as good as Shaun Of The Dead or Hot Fuzz, though.

Dingus Knucklehumper Jun 10th, 2011 10:23 AM

Super 8 was disappointing

Kitsa Jun 10th, 2011 12:10 PM

I watched Boondock Saints again the other night.

It's too bad that Troy Duffy had to be a massive tool about himself, because despite the hackish parts there was some solid stuff there. I saw Overnight a long time ago and, although I'm not dumb enough to believe it's the whole truth, I think it probably isn't far off.

Boondock Saints 2 mainly just annoys me, mostly because of the obnoxious accent Julie Benz puts on. Why can't anyone just talk normally?*

*see my many, many arguments as to why House has to be an American.

Are you arguing that House should have a British accent?

Kitsa Jun 11th, 2011 02:12 PM

I'm saying that there's nothing particularly objectionable about the way that Hugh Laurie talks naturally, and that I don't see why they decided that there was no way that the character could be British in origin.

He could do his Lord Monty if he wanted.

Pentegarn Jun 11th, 2011 03:26 PM

Well part of his personality is rude and acidic, and Americans would need the person to be American, or French

Watched Pirates 4. I liked that they shifted the focus to Jack Sparrow, he was the main attraction and should be treated by the story as such, plus seeing as they shat on the whole plot between Bloom and Knightly's characters and relationship, they needed to not bother with either of them going forward.
