What You Don't Know About Living In Space

http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/Story?id=4450259

This reminds me of all the stories we heard about in elementary school with Columbus's voyages to the NEW WORLD :<

I am a space fag :<

"Oh wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. It's a pretty amazing view, " Endeavour astronaut Rick Linnehan said.

only pretty amazing? :x

Chojin Mar 15th, 2008 04:20 PM

Well they are astronauts, they aren't people like you and me.

RaNkeri Mar 15th, 2008 04:22 PM

It would be harmful for your muscle tone - that's what I DO know.

Emu Mar 15th, 2008 04:33 PM

The fact that there is an international space station is mindblowing. And I'd be willing to bet the vast majority of people aren't even aware of it.

executioneer Mar 15th, 2008 04:41 PM

did you know that there have been five people willing to pay a company 30 million dollars each just so they can visit that station

executioneer Mar 15th, 2008 04:42 PM

did you know richard garriot is planning to do this as well

Chojin Mar 15th, 2008 04:43 PM

i don't understand why they don't have a freezer up there but then again I guess that's why I'm not up in space :<

executioneer Mar 15th, 2008 04:46 PM

Guitar Woman Mar 15th, 2008 04:49 PM

Zomboid Mar 15th, 2008 04:49 PM

Well, I'd put my money on the fact, that if the freezer malfunctions all the ice would melt into water which could do some shit to all the devices nearby.
:/

Water in space is so cool ;<

Money: Money has no value in space. When seven astronauts are living together in a cramped atmosphere the psychology of small isolated groups kicks in. Whoever has squirreled away the most M&Ms, tortillas or coffee has the most bargaining power. Those are items that are most prized at the end of a mission if someone runs short in their own stash. Astronauts' meals are color coded on shuttle missions -- and reliable sources tell ABC News some astronauts aren't above switching the colored dots on their dehydrated meals if they have run out of say, lasagna, on day six and have way too much creamed spinach left.
I can just picture some dude bringing a family sized bag of M&M's on board, waiting until they are almost out, and using the bag to bargain his way to the top of the Astronaut Hirearchy.

Guitar Woman Mar 15th, 2008 09:23 PM

space is like prison

Pub Lover Mar 15th, 2008 10:12 PM

I must have a very different concept of space than whoever that article was written for.

Emu Mar 15th, 2008 10:14 PM

Why would Richard Garriot want to go to a space station of all places? Doesn't he live in a fucking castle?

DuFresne Mar 15th, 2008 10:20 PM

He's experimenting with new and exciting generic fanboy fantasies :rolleyes

Pub Lover Mar 15th, 2008 10:35 PM

When I was a lad, I wanted to grow up to be a cosmonaut. :(

I like the idea of being evil in space.

Speaking of which, have you guys ever watched the NASA channel. The most boring shit for 3 hrs then some people will give a speech, then out of nowhere they'll do a bunch of backflips to finish it. Totally worth it at 2am.

I'd want to go just to see what zero gravity is like, really.

Pub Lover Mar 16th, 2008 03:59 AM

They don't have personal cabins so you either have to wait or learn to enjoy public masturbation.
