You probably want to also check what ad banner is being shown at the top of the page. That message box in the first screenshot is originating from Javascript from a page at pc-on-internet.com (clearly not I-Mockery). The only place that this can really be occurring is in an iframe on the page, which is what I believe the ads are running in at the top of the forums.
It's kind of funny that they've done their page up to look like an actual Windows XP popup but you're running Vista :lol I bet that it also redirects you if you click on Cancel, too. Finding out the ad banner should provide enough clues for Rog to remove them from the rotation or complain to the network. |
I always click cancel or just close the box and it always redirects me. I figure it's just spyware or something already on my computer though.

It just happened to me again on another site, different computer, and I barely had time to nab a screencap of the banner ad before getting redirected:

I just had one with the "You are the 1 x 10^19th visitor" things at the top, nothing TOO obnoxious but it was shaking around like crazy AND it was making the Windows XP error noise about every six seconds. What I did for posterity is that I viewed the source code and saved it as a notepad file, in case anyone wants it.

Thanks for the screenshots Zomboid and Kitsa, I filtered out any ads coming from pc-on-internet.com as that seems to be the offending site. I couldn't find the actual ads anywhere, so I'm assuming they're coming from Google, so I went ahead and put a block on that domain name. Hopefully that'll do the trick. Keep posting screenshots if you guys encounter any other problem ads.
Seth, I think the error noise ad you mentioned came from Google as well, because I couldn't find it through our primary ad networks. Google apparently needs to get their shit together :O |
Having not clicked on anything whatsoever, the site redirected me to this:
http://72.51.42.7/t101915005/h.html I advise you not to go near it. And if that's not the cagiest thing I've ever seen, I'll eat my hat. Also, it's got rotating ads, so you never see the same one. It wants my email. Again, it could just be my computer, though. |

Same thing just happened to me- had this forum in an inactive firefox tab, left for a moment (clicked NOTHING) and came back to find I'd been redirected to some nonsense shit about "do you like rising gas prices yes/no".
|
Damn, it's still not happening to me. I need to know exactly what ad is causing it. Still amazes me that big networks allow shady ads like this to slip through. Real professional. :|
|
Ditto here - "Are you fed up with rising gas prices?". Too bad I wasn't fast enough with my screen cap.
|
Nevermind, it just happened to me on another site. It's probably just me.
|
You fags need to run the anti-spyware programs that they're advertising >:
|
I'd brag about having a mac and this never happening to me, but it is probably impossible for that to be the reason.

Yeah, I just got another one, to a cosmetic site.
Is I-Mock trying to tell me something? :eek |
I'd be willing to bet it's not I-Mockery.
|
Sometimes banner ads can be downright funny. On another site, I got "BUY RAMONES TICKETS NOW!!!" Uhhhh....
