Game Stop Diatribe
I just happened upon this series of videos which present a damning 50+ minute diatribe on Game Stop and their dubious business practises. It's in the style of Zero Punctuation which while not very original gives you something to look at while you're listening. Some of it is pretty funny but for the most part it's just interesting to hear the various ways Game Stop are shafting customers and employees.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Part 9 |
Most game review sites end up selling out eventually. Companies won't send free copies of games to someone who's going to trash it, and a lot of sites will capitulate to get copies earlier so they can have the first posted reviews to attract more traffic.

I just realised I made a mistake. I meant Game STOP, not SPOT. I agree GameSpot suck though. Could you edit the title pls achimp?
|
It was interesting... but often unintelligible.
|
The British love jibberish.
|
Are you not able to edit your own thread titles anymore?
|
Not bad, but I imagine it'd be better if he hadn't been sucking on a Jolly Rancher for the entire series.

i only buy my games in walmart and blockbuster

I actually find that I hate Gamestop for about four years at a time, or the entire length of a console generation.
About a year or two after one ends, they sell tons of used games dirt cheap because they know they have to get rid of them. This lead to me finding Parappa 2 for six dollars, Wipeout Fusion for three, Mario Sunshine for five and the entire Jak/Sly Cooper series for a bit over $30 with the first game being $5, the second being $12 and the third being $15. Which is to say, I love them right now. |
Support my pals over at Destructoid if you're looking for a pure game reviews site. They beat the hell out o' all the other game sites out there owned by big companies.
|
lol oh woops. The thread says GameSPOT, the videos are about GameSTOP.
But yea, fuck 'em both. Also, Gametrailers is usually where I head for reviews. A DToid is fine too. |
You bunch of newbs. L2read.

I try to shop at mom 'n pop game stores when I can. Their prices vary from being retardedly cheaper than GameStop* to retardedly more expensive than GameStop** depending on what you're buying. They pull the same ridiculous markup game that GameStop does, but I don't feel so gross participating in it. That and they carry games all the way back to Atari. :D
*Example: Fatal Frame II. GameStop sold it to me for 45 dollars, used, book and case in good condition. Mom 'n pop store had it for 30, sealed. **Example: Fatal Frame III. GameStop had it for 35 in pristine condition -- snatched that shit up right away. Checked with the mom 'n pop store, and they would've sold the same game for 60+. |
psst edit / go advanced to change thread's title

Or, on the list of threads in a particular forum, you can click on threads you've made to edit them.
I don't know how I figured that out. |
