Star Trek

The new trailer actually looks pretty fucking sweet. I'm highly skeptical that this movie will work, but maybe J.J. Abrahms' attempt at a series reboot will be as successful as Batman Begins or Casino Royale.

BLEU Nov 17th, 2008 06:48 PM

I hope it's great and that you love it, but when has J.J. Abrams done anything that was genuinely good?

darkvare Nov 17th, 2008 08:08 PM

the new spock looks really lame

ZeldaQueen Nov 17th, 2008 08:31 PM

Interesting. I must check this out.

And I certainly hope it's good. I always like a reboot. The X-Files one didn't do so great though (the ending was freaky as heck though).

Neen Nov 17th, 2008 11:36 PM

It'll be shot in shakey-cam, guys. I know it.

ZeldaQueen Nov 18th, 2008 11:47 AM

Well yeah. That's how they showed that the ship took damage. The room would shake, sparks would fly, and William Shatner would shout Mr. Spock! Return fire!

It was William Shatner with Spock, right? All I know is what I saw with my dad when I was a kid. Including the episode where they find Data's severed head in a cave. :lol

Grislygus Nov 18th, 2008 02:03 PM

Holy fuck, just let the damned thing die already

AChimp Nov 19th, 2008 12:29 PM

Spock was the science officer. Kirk would have told Chekhov to return fire. >:

Tadao Nov 19th, 2008 02:14 PM

NERDS!

My bad. I based that statement off of a series of Bloom Country comics, during which a guy in a wheelchair and several animals would play Star Trek (they'd board the wheelchair as the Enterprise). Opus the Penguin was Spock and was told to fire.

Star Trek is nothing without the Shat.

Dixie Nov 20th, 2008 10:04 AM

The CVS by us has a complete set of Star Trek PEZ dispensers for sale.
I thought about getting it, but I'm not that big of a fan.

Tadao Nov 21st, 2008 02:04 AM

I just saw the commercial. I'm not a fan as I won't defend Star Trek or care if it's better than Star Wars or any of that, but I have seen most if not all the original and Next Gen. What I liked about those episodes was the interesting stories and morals and what not, I have a feeling that it won't be in this movie. Too much has changed, like Deep Space 9 and Voyager and Enterprise. I predict a final flop and many fan boys rioting.

I just watched Next Gen the other day. The over acting is unbearable.

Krythor Nov 23rd, 2008 03:27 PM

It looks like the Lost in Space movie. What is this, Star Trek vs. Star Wars? Since when was Star Trek about CGI dragons and laser fights? And I thought Spock's story arc was that he becomes less rational as the series goes on, so why does the trailer depict him as a young brash rebel? Why is it necessary that Kirk is confronted by a robot as a youth after jumping out of a moving car, and how come he's riding around on his motorocycle like some Shia LeBouf character?

The fact that it's raised all of these questions from me in just a three minute trailer makes me want to be sick. Simon Pegg was the only authentic part. It needs more cheesy homage and less laser fight, let's-swing-from-trees-with-monkeys horse shit.

It's a trailer. I'm pretty sure stuff like plot, character development, and homages will be expanded upon in the full length movie.

Hey, I liked the Lost in Space movie! Gary Oldman rocked. :)

captain516 Nov 29th, 2008 11:35 PM

I'd much rather see a movie about the robot in the begining.

pac-man Nov 29th, 2008 11:42 PM

Are we sure that that is a robot?

Jeanette X Dec 1st, 2008 12:44 AM

I like the looks of this new trailer. Simon Pegg is Scotty, and the slash potential for the new Kirk and Spock is very high.

I don't care what it is, all I know is that it looks awesome.
