Olympics try to get Keith Moon for Symphony of Rock... too bad he died in '78
Also invited but not mentioned were the following:
Janis Joplin Jimi Hendrix John Bonham John Lennon George Harrison Ronnie James Dio and Adam Ant (who is not dead, but his career certainly is) |
Speaks volumes about the amount of shits they give about the ceremonies.

There's a point I suppose, the Olympics are technically on TV, but still, it needs to be in music where it belongs
They probably meant to ask Keith Richards ... no wait, he's dead too, he just hasn't stopped moving yet.
Kidding aside, it wasn't too long after he died that one of the cable networks aired a reunion show with performers from the movie and rock opera Tommy. The part of The Acid Queen, for example, was redone by Tina Turner...the part of The Pinball Wizard was redone by Elton John. All of the original The Who were there, of course, except for Moon. His drumming duties were being covered by Kenney Jones. So, after the show, Billy Idol--who filled in for Paul Nicholas as Cousin Kevin--comes walking out on stage, grabbed the mike, and yells out, "Let's hear it for The Who! Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey, John Entwhistle, and Keith Moon!" I felt sorry as hell for Kenney...
