Gamecube

Are there any good games for it? I'm considering getting it because of the 4 free zelda games but the rest of the games seem shitty. :/

McClain Dec 5th, 2003 04:12 AM

That's a stupid question.

James Dec 5th, 2003 04:21 AM

Well, yes and no.

Gamecube's library of exclusive titles (meaning, reasons over other systems to buy it) is very small, and fairly limited to first-party titles. And while these games are usually quality games, they might not be up your alley. And if you're like me, you're sick of every game having fucking Mario in it. But still, there should be some games worth playing.

The Zelda games are Zelda 1 and 2, Orcarina, and Majora's Mask. Not even Link to the Past, those 'mos. But the point is, if you already have them, it's an N64 and NES emulator away from playing without shelling out more money. So it's not worth getting the system JUST for 4 old games.

McClain Dec 5th, 2003 04:26 AM

That's a stupid answer.

Wind Waker is Good. Looks cheesy, but it good.

Metroid Prime is awesome, so is Viewtiful Joe.

But the Gamecube in my opinion is a goof off system. It does not have games which you can dedicate hours of single player game time. (Grand Turismo) or have the massive lan play games of the X-Box (Halo).

But from what I have experienced, most girls would rather play you a game of Animal Crossing or Mario Party then a death tournament of Halo or some extreme racing of Grand Turismo.

It all depends what you REALLY after. Games, or Games with a Gamer Chick at your side.

I think what you are referring to is the thousands of shitty RPGs that geeks with no real life enjoy.

timrpgland Dec 5th, 2003 01:02 PM

I like the Gamecube. There are plenty of options out there for you. What type of games do you like? Eternal Darkness deserves a mention again. It's a awesome game.

Nerd Dec 5th, 2003 03:02 PM

Resident Evil, Megaman Network Transmission, and Viewtiful Joe are some really good games. Though I haven't played it, Mario Sunshine and Startfox Adventers might be worthwhile. Also buy a gameboy player to play gameboy games. If you're only buying the 'Cube for the zelda disk, then I would not recamend it.

Spectre X Dec 5th, 2003 03:14 PM

Metroid Prime is one of the reasons why you should get a Gamecube. It's the best, most beautiful sci-fi shooter I have ever seen, be it on consoles or PC.

Emu Dec 5th, 2003 05:07 PM

Metroid Prime is a lot better if you play the other ones first, though. It clears up so much of the story.

Mockery Dec 5th, 2003 05:10 PM

The new Mario Kart Double Dash game is a lot of fun too if you're into that kind of game.

HickMan Dec 5th, 2003 07:47 PM

Animal Crossing >: fuck you. I like it >:

executioneer Dec 5th, 2003 09:38 PM

RESIDENT EVIL ZERO IS ABSOLUTE SHIT >:

METROID PRIME IS FOR GOBLINS >:

They're actually free with the purchase of an indigo or black console. Also I only have one of the 4.

I enjoy most of the exclusive titles. But yea I'm like that. I'm getting sick of mario games. I haven't got a system other than nintendo since the first sega. But I really enjoy zelda games and the price isn't high like the other systems. The only problem I have with it is the library of games. I'm looking at prince of persia, smash brothers, mario kart and a few others. Shooters are better on pc so I'm not really concerned with that but it lacks action/rpgs which a geek like me would love to spend hours alone playing.

James Dec 5th, 2003 10:27 PM

Yeah, I know the Zelda pack is free. I was saying if you already had the 4 games in some other form, it didn't make sense to consider a GC just for them.

And the reason the GC is so low, is because they can't sell them. Hold out a little longer, and they'll have a GC, GBA player and link cable, Zelda pack, 2 free games, an extra controller and 2 memory cards for $25.

Cap'n Crunch Dec 5th, 2003 10:47 PM

Gamecube beat out sales of Xbox and PS2 in the last quarter, you jerk. >: Not systems sold, but money. >:

Ant10708 Dec 5th, 2003 11:12 PM

Metroid Prime, Eternal Darkness and Viewtul Joe are worth getting a Gamecube since its only 99 dollars, plus you get the Zelda games you are interested in.

Mockery Dec 6th, 2003 12:26 AM

I think it's worth getting cuz yeah, it is pretty damned cheap and there's some fun games on it. And that gameboy advance adapter is awesome cuz there's soooo many good games on the GBA that need to be played on a full-sized screen rather than just a tiny portable one.

Anonymous Dec 6th, 2003 12:28 AM

And if you already have a first generation GBA, it'd be just as cheap to get a Gamecube than a GBA SP.

You're forgetting that you have to pay for the adapter too.

Anonymous Dec 6th, 2003 01:24 AM

And you're forgetting that I don't care. It's ok, though. I never made that particularly clear in the beginning.

Eternal_Champion Dec 6th, 2003 12:31 PM

Wave Race, Phantasy Star Online and 1080 Avalanche are really good aswell

Snatchtastic Dec 6th, 2003 01:33 PM

.

Spend the money on a hooker.

I just gave my Gamecube to my buddy whos never played Zelda or Resident Evil. Otherwise it would have seen the pick axe just like the Dreamcast did.

Eternal_Champion Dec 6th, 2003 04:28 PM

You have a pickaxe?!
