Dumbass Clubbers

Christ, first there's that trampling incident at Epitome where people got so fucking scared because 2 stupid bitches were fighting and had to be sprayed with pepper spray...

NOT EVEN a week later, some idiot band plays with fire and ends up killing 95 people who cane use a fucking emergency exit.

The story was all over the news today, and I really have to sympathize with these people, but when I see 2 dozen people jammed in a doorway, my opinion of society really goes down the tubes...

In memory of the stupid people who died meaninglessly...

And in abhorrance of the people who stomped them to death.

slavemason Feb 21st, 2003 11:48 PM

I heard it was Great White that was playing. If it was, I can't believe 95 people went.

Vomit Feb 21st, 2003 11:55 PM

:(

The Retro Kat Feb 21st, 2003 11:55 PM

You know we were talking about this in the anti-rave section, which would probably be the best place to put this thread.

Captain Robo Feb 22nd, 2003 08:33 AM

There's also a POLLS forum for your stupid topics.

James Feb 22nd, 2003 08:42 AM

What kills me is why a shuttle blowing up and killing 7 people is a tragedy, yet 95 people burning to death in a freak accident isn't.

Guess it has to do with the amount of government funding.

I had a sociology class once where we talked about "mob mentality". This type of behavior really isn't that unusual or "stupid". <shrug> It's human nature really. You'd be suprised what totally intelligent and normal people would do in such situations. Add to that the additional tension brought about by the terrorist threat our government keeps shoving down our throats. As horrible as this is, I'm suprised something similiar didn't happen sooner. :(

Captain Robo Feb 22nd, 2003 07:25 PM

This is true.

And I agree that nightclubs aren't where you would expect to find some smart people with leadership skills, but the most important thing in a situation such as that would be to cooperate and keep a cool head. I don't see how 2 dozen people can simply get "stuck" in a frickin doorway. Couldn't they have just went out two at a time?

And few people used emergency exits.

What does that tell you about the intellectual caliber of said people?

AChimp Feb 22nd, 2003 07:39 PM

I think it's natural selection. :)

Les Waste Feb 22nd, 2003 07:45 PM

actually Robo, Kellychaos is right. Why do you think it's illegal to yell "FIRE" in a crowded theatre?

And this is LOL

Captain Robo Feb 22nd, 2003 11:05 PM

That is very LOL :(

I never said she was wrong.

But all I'm saying is that if everyone did not regress to cattle-like mentalities, then more people would have survived.

But what's done is done. Now is not the time for "whatifs."

noob3 Feb 22nd, 2003 11:25 PM

Robo, look up the word "Panic".

Les Waste Feb 23rd, 2003 12:18 AM

Yeah, but the problem is, everybody always automatically assumes the cattle like mentality because of the situation. When you are caught in a situation like that with Great White trying to burn you, here are your options:

a. If it stay and wait, I'll have a greater chance of Great white setting me on fire.

b. I can leave out that door I see

And considering when people's lives are at stake, that's pretty much the extent of the thought process

Ninjavenom Feb 23rd, 2003 12:38 AM

You know the one simpsons where bart starts spinnign his arms at lisa and says "i'm gonna walk at you like this and if i hit you, it's not my fault"? That would be me. Washing machine attack, bitches!

Captain Robo Feb 23rd, 2003 12:49 AM

Once again, I agree. You are correct.

sadie Feb 23rd, 2003 01:45 AM

from what i read, only the ones who made it to the door in the first 30 seconds to minute survived.

kon Feb 23rd, 2003 02:15 AM

WTF SOUP? You mean like the food? :(

Captain Robo Feb 23rd, 2003 10:19 AM

What the hell? :lol

kon Feb 23rd, 2003 04:45 PM

WTF? :(

Slinky Ferret Feb 24th, 2003 04:33 AM

hmm

The band all got out unscathed but you know those emergency exits that you are on about? Well you need to see the lights to find them and if there are no lights and its dark how the hell can you find the door? Its tragic and a classic example of crap health and safety.

slavemason Feb 24th, 2003 07:38 AM

I thought one of the guitarist didn't make it out.?.

Captain Robo Feb 24th, 2003 08:21 AM

Who ate the SOUP? :(

Blatant Feb 24th, 2003 12:33 PM
