FPS'

What the fuck is the secret to not getting your ass kicked (besides cheating )?

I fucking SUCK at MOH:AA :(

Ninjavenom Jan 17th, 2004 11:34 PM

- Move constantly.
- Turn around often.
- Shoot at any potential threat, be it enemy or ally.
- Reload every time you've fired your weapon.
- Aim for the upper torso. Head shots often miss, but if you aim near the shoulders and neck you're more likely to hit them in the domepiece.
- Use your surrounding for cover.
- Duck and run. Cheap, but sometimes effective.
- Don't be afraid to use grenades.
-Strafe, never run in a straight line.
- Never, ever sit out in an open area.
- Don't snipe in the same place for long times unless you're positive it will be a good while before you're seen.
- Run around with a few comrades. You're much easier to kill when you're alone.
- Don't bother using a rocket launcher unless you can blast it right into your enemy's spawn point.

Awesome. Thanks so far!

Cap'n Crunch Jan 17th, 2004 11:37 PM

Holy shit, I beat my brother at Halo. He is a fucking maniac at it. :( Thanks ninja. :(

HickMan Jan 17th, 2004 11:39 PM

I like guns with a slight zoom-in. :/

Jim Duncan - Weather Jan 18th, 2004 12:03 AM

Depends on the game you're playing, such as the weapons and if there are vehicles.

-Practice with all weapons, and then in game, pick your two best (obvious)
-If you're playing against people with machine guns, get them from behind and once they notice, run circles around them firing on them.
-If you have teamates, set up an ambush point for the enemy, so they won't expect it.
-If using vehicles, always use the fast vehicles when the enemy is using a slow, but powerful one (like a tank).
-If the enemy is using a tank that can't be penetrated with pistol/machine gun fire, grab a rocket launcher, and attack from above, harder to hit.
-If you're going for staying alive, not necesarilly kills, stay in the high ground if possible, you can hide easier, and people have to come from below to get you, much harder than coming from above.
-For those of you who play Halo, always use the Ghost when your opponent has a tank. What I like to do, is floor it at the tank, hit it, ramp into the air, and then jump out, and rocket them from mid-air.
-Finally, always make sure you're moving, never stop, and if you do, make sure your behind cover.

liquidstatik Jan 18th, 2004 12:13 AM

Schimid Jan 18th, 2004 12:15 AM

EDIT - How come it never says when you edit, but it always does when I do? :(

liquidstatik Jan 18th, 2004 12:16 AM

You can view it in FPS mode in some guns, though.

It never says when I edit. :o

I derno why, Schimid. ;(

:/

Always seems like I was God at Goldeneye and Perfect Dark. Then, when I got onto online FPS, I wasn't...er...number 1.

Schimid Jan 18th, 2004 12:48 AM

FPS' come sort of as a flavor of the month for me. I'll either want to play one REALLY REALLY BAD or not at all.

Sorry if I sounded like an asshole, but those were first nature for me, everything Ninja said. I found that out just with pure logic, I guess just by asking what would I do in that situation :/

And SOCOM wasn't especially designed for First-Person view, so even when you are in FPS mode, it's kinda fucked up anyway. I'm not making excuses though, I suck at it either way. :(

I can beat anyone I know in a PS2 FPS, but not on any other console. I suck at third-person games, all of them except for platformers.

I can beat anyone on these boards in Red Faction. :picklehat

executioneer Jan 18th, 2004 12:56 AM

if you edit soon enough after your initial post it doesn't note it, I think the cutoff might be like 5 minutes or somethgin :/

edit: test 12

-willie

executioneer Jan 18th, 2004 01:03 AM

or maybe it might only note if you make another poist? :/

edit: yea thats probably it

or it could be if someone has responded to it :/

-willie

liquidstatik Jan 18th, 2004 01:15 AM

RESPOND.

edit- Responding has nothing to do with it, I guess. :(

Esuohlim Jan 18th, 2004 01:58 AM

I'm pretty sure if you edit it when there's absolutely no other posts after it, then it won't say anything. In any other situation, it does.

Anonymous Jan 18th, 2004 04:09 PM

The golden rule of any fps is to jump a lot and shoot at peoples' feet with explosives :<

eggyolk Jan 18th, 2004 07:08 PM

Yes, that works wonders in Halo, but for games like CounterStrike, you would be foolish to bunny hop in the middle of a fire fight.

Rongi Jan 18th, 2004 07:15 PM

I'm at Omaha beach now

FUCK THIS PART IS HARD :(

You have to run onto the beach while a bunch of wooden spikes block your path and you get bullets rained on you like fire and brimstone :(

Jim Duncan - Weather Jan 18th, 2004 07:20 PM

"wooden spikes" = good cover

Anonymous Jan 19th, 2004 01:18 AM

Counterstrike isn't an FPS. It's a gay online adventure.

DamnthatDavid Jan 19th, 2004 01:24 AM

Best FPS right now is Battlefield 1942.
And it's mod, Desert Combat.

Anonymous Jan 19th, 2004 01:27 AM
