drew? i'm happy you know a real gay guy. really. that matters. oh, and thanks for responding to the ONE point i made that was an opinion based on my personal interaction with my real life gay boyfriends (OMG I KNOW MORE THAN ONE!! ).
Perhaps it does matter. By knowing a gay man, I can say with proof that the tv show's portrayl of gay men is just a tad presumptuous.
how about addressing my other points? you know, like the fact that these men are PROFESSIONALS in their fields, that the show is EDUCATIONAL ENTERTAINMENT and addresses the cultural barrier that is so prevelant between straight and gay males by making both sides feel good about themselves.
I would like to think that gay males don't need a sterotypical television show to give them self worth. I sure know I'm secure enough that I can feel good about myself with out turning on the tube to some hack's idea of equality for both sexual perusasions. I'm also not within this cultural barrier you speak of, as I already interact with gay's just like any other people. The show isn't helping me see the "good" side of homosexuality. It's only playing off of the public's misconception of how artistically perceptive the gay community is.
dude...THEY ARE QUEER. not only are they QUEER, but they are trained professionals. sure, one may be an interior designer WHO HAS HIS OWN COMPANY, and one may be a fashion expert WHO WORKED WITH POLO, but the underlying factor here is: THEY ARE ALL QUEER. GAY. ASSFUCKERS. DICKLICKERS. FAGS. big friggin' deal.
my point? they DO have a different viewpoint on things, not only because they are experts, but because they are QUEER. if you were QUEER, you would see things as a QUEER guy. you would have a QUEER eye. THERE WOULD BE NOTHING THAT YOU COULD DO ABOUT IT.
Yes, if I was a trained professional, I would have this artistic eye, too. But not if I was gay. If I was gay, the eye I would possess would be one that sees big beefy men as something to get freaky with. Nothing more. For every macho weight lifting straight, there is a macho weight lifting gay. For every gay flamboyant artist, there is one that's straight, too. Gay's just like the cock. Only difference.
Now, you seem to be upset with 0oner. Let's call him the average guy watching Queer Eye. Think's it's funny and entertaining. Makes him think that gay guys have artistic talent. BUT HE STILL FUCKING THINKS THAT GAYS ARE LUSTY BEINGS OF EVIL. Excuse me, he thinks their communities are evil. Which is the same fucking thing. The show did shit. It didn't open up his eyes to the wonderful world of homosexuality.
That is the most nonsensical garbage I've ever read. First, fags love queer eye like they love cock. Second, good job assuming straight people can't enjoy a show without it affecting their judgments of people, but homos will see right through it all! Even if you're not gay, you still suck more metaphorical fag cock than the fab 5 combined.
Agreed, that wasn't my highpoint in clarity. Muddled writing aside, you could at least get the gist of what I was saying. I said some straight people will have their perception of gays changed. They will find them to be a group of people that have artistic talent. Gay's will not have their perception changed. BECAUSE THEY ARE GAY, AND THEY DON'T NEED A TV SHOW TO TELL THEM WHAT THEY ARE! Think about you moron. If they made a show called straight guy for the big fag, would you go, "damn, maybe I'm different than I originally thought."? No, the show wouldnt apply to you. You already know what it's like being straight. They already know what it's like being gay. Also, they already knowwhat straight people are like, becuase they interact with them everyday.
Straight folks interact with gays everyday, and I'm sure they can make their own perception of QUEERS.
No, untrue. The majority of straight men do not interact with gay's everyday, or at least not knowingly. Therefore, the average straight male has a limited perception of homosexuality. All this show is doing is tossing garbage into their head, about how artistic gay men are. In order to get a real idea of what a certain type of person is like, you have to interact with them. Not get made over by them. Not watch a ridiculous television show that just shows the ones that have an artistic vocation. Interaction, not television. Trust me, it's like reality vs. virtual reality. the show can't be a surrogate for a real cultural awakening.
