The SNES version had that game+ version feature as well.

I liked Chrono Trigger for the follwing reasons:

1. Character development. It was good. Frog's/Magus' story in particular.
2. The Music. I'm pretty sure its sold the most video game soundtracks in history.
3. The Visuals. They seemed impressive to me at the time (1995) and now they hold nostalgic value. I also like Akira Toriyama's style. Alot.

I'll admit the plot isn't absolutely spectacular but it wasn't sub-par to say the least. Each time period was linked to Lavos in some way, many in very interesing ways. Perhaps you were too eager to simply beat it rather than to enjoy it? I just can't imagine someone really disliking CT. :/
