Mammoth, most newbies get abused for two reasons:
-It's fun. Most of the time.
-It's a way to root out people that suck. Verbally attacking them is just one way of getting a response out of a person, which in turn lets everyone here see what kind of person they really are. When someone endures a newbie beating long enough or even manages to throw back some effective insults, they gain respect (and sometimes love
). And then there are people whose first posts impress so much that they're immediately deemed cool. Or people who just sneak in the back door and aren't really noticed until someone starts asking where that peculiar smell is coming from, like me.
