Because once they get past their teenage sex obsession, most of them learn to be more discriminating and have personalities definied by things other than their sexual habits, and it's not hard for the one worthwhile guy to stand out from the 100 faceless fuck buddies.
You're right that STDs are a problem, though. You never have to ask the virgins if they're clean or have been tested.
