Incidentally, today I was in Bloomington with family and saw a Moroccan restaurant, so I demanded we eat there. I overheard the waiter/host speak French, so I said a few words to him. He was delighted, so the rest of the meal we spoke French to each other. I told him that I spent a day in Morocco, et cetera. It was really nice because I did better than I thought I would have, as it's clear that I suck at French. People are always nicer when you put in that extra effort.
