Would to God that we forsake our Indo-European linguistic heritage by seeing the death of the subjunctive. Lest we denigrate our tongue by acquiescing such expressions as "I wish I was richer", let the subjunctive see a renaissance. May not the subjunctive be annexed by the conditional, nor mistaken for the past.
