I think he's glossing over many important distinctions, but over-all, he's on track. The problem is rooted much deeper than a simple call for action will ever address, however.

I do like that his research shows what I've been trying to tell you guys for years (the reason I predominantly post on liberal boards:) that libertarianism is not the same thing as being a Republican. You can just as easily be a libertarian Democrat. Libertarian thought is the closest thing you'll find to classic liberalism in today's political circus.

That quote of yours hits on the exact reason I never joined the party, BTW. LP members that show up are typically there for one reason, be it taxes, drugs, transparency, or an anti-war stance. Most can't reconcile with or even comprehend the entire ideology. LP members are generally kooks. The ideologists adhere to a higher understanding of life, one which precludes going to bullshit meetings where kooks are taken seriously because the party needs all the members it can get.

The libertarian ideologues he's looking for understand completely that America has devolved sadly into a true Democracy. A state SC justice overruled Georgia's Homosexual Marriage Ban Amendment today, the same day Johnny Isakson has been making the rounds to bitch about his loss on an immigration bill proposal requiring border closure as a priority. Both Isakson and our Republican governor issued soundbytes to the effect that the all-important "Will Of The People" was being flagrantly ignored.

Libertarians have no voice in a mob. None of our positions are "popular" with self-indulgent, self-destructive, short-sighted and spiteful idiots. Once the rest of you have your collective way, leaving this country in a smoldering pile of rubble (hopefully not one that emits radiation) you might come seeking better answers to society's problems. You will probably have to travel to some other country to find us, though.

mburbank~ Yes, okay, fine, I do know what you meant, but why is it not possible for you to get through a paragraph without making all the words cry?

How can someone who obviously thinks so much of their ideas have so little respect for expressing them? How can someone who so yearns to be taken seriously make so little effort?!
