the centuries-old holy book of Islam
The holy book of Islam? I guess that means that this book is entitled to worship or veneration-- consecrated, as it were. Hmm. You prefaced "holy book" with the adverbial "centuries-old." Is that what qualifies it as holy? Or is it just that enough people said so?What if it were just one person? If I claimed that the forty-year-old words given to me via the television by a taking horse named Ed were holy, would that be good enough? I mean there's no less proof that Mr. Ed was a deity than Allah. Or that Wilber was a great prophet. In fact, now that I think about it... Be back later. I've got to register a URL.
