The story on the 360 is that it got the 3 red lights (the internal problem one) so I called Microsoft up. I got the system in July or so and while talking to them they told me it wasn't under warranty anymore and that it would cost me $160 to have it fixed. So I declined.

The next couple of days I did some research on the problem and possible fixes. So I went on and opened up my 360. I tried the "hot air gun" fix and put some new thermal paste on. To my suprise the system worked fine. I played for about 1 hour a day for a few days or so and then it died again with the same red lights.

Then Microsoft changed their policy to 1 year warranty. Of course this was all done AFTER I opened my system. I stilled called them though and tried to plea with them (including a supervisor) but they of course will not fix a 360 that has been "tampered" with. So it's just sitting in my house cause I don't want to touch it anymore.

The broken 360 will come with basic cables but will not include a controller. You can try your luck fixing it (which you won't need a controller for) and if you get it to work, buy a controller.
