When I was a kid, I found my dad's cassette collection which had a lot of KISS, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and a few others. I got into KISS more than the others at that point, and I kinda just listened to whatever pop shit everyone else was listening to until I got a bit older. Then it kinda went like this:
Radiohead--AC/DC--Slayer--System of a Down--AC/DC again--Iron Maiden--Metallica-All that Remains-Mastodon
but Iron Maiden, AC/DC and Metallica are still my favorite bands :O
