Saw the Locked Up Abroad granddaddy-of-them-all edition, Billy Hayes doing a redux of his Midnight Express story. Hell, I thought that was the whole reason that show
existed.
I liked that he was somewhat self-effacing and seemed to well realize just what an idiot he had been.
I disliked that he had told the story so often that I recognized sub-dialogues, turns of phrase and even tearful hesitations from other interviews. He'd just finely tuned the drama, that's all. It didn't seem as honest, but then the man's spent the entire rest of his life telling the same story over and over and over and over again, so what can you expect.
