For what it's worth, here's my take on Asperger's Syndrome. Only click if you're interested in finding out what it is.
Spoilers! |
As I understand it, not being a licensed MD or Psychologist, Asperger's Syndrome is a form of Autism, specifically an Autistic Spectrum Disorder, consisting of mainly high-functioning individuals with maddeningly awkward social pragmatic problems. These problems are wide ranging and difficult to characterize under a single umbrella, and as such these individuals were historically misdiagnosed as being either Autistic (which is partly right) or mentally deficient (which is not).
The difference between individuals with this disorder and individuals who THINK they have this disorder is that the first kind have no control (or have to learn to control) their behavior, and the second kind are too lazy to control their behavior and are either looking for an excuse to not change, or are looking for sympathy. THe key is that Asperger's is not something you THINK you MIGHT have, it can be diagnosed only by an accredited trained specialist, and not by an internet questionnaire. |
