They didn't actually show him dead, so maybe Dexter was lying to the shooter to see how he would react.
Also, I read an intresting theory about the new season. It really sucks if it turns out to be true:
The old killer isn't real. He's been dead for a while and he lives only in Colin Hanks's head. Proof: The old guy hasn't interacted with anyone else than Hanks through the whole season. WHAT A TWIST! A bit too M Night Shamalama for my taste. |

That's what I was thinking too. It looks like Biney will be back maybe replacing ghost dad. They are trying to show Dexter as an angel this season. |
