CNN also has obtained a document posted on an Internet message board analysts believe is used by al Qaeda and its sympathizers that spells out the terrorist group's plan to separate Spain from the U.S.-led coalition on Iraq.

The strategy spelled out in the document, posted last December on the Internet, calls for the use of terrorism to drive Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar's Popular Party from power and replace it with the Socialists.

That was expected to drive a wedge between Washington and Madrid and result in the withdrawal of Spanish military forces from Iraq.
Can we visit this message board?

I wonder why Al Qaeda would prefer 'Socialists' to the PP? Apart from Iraq, I don't think they would really prefer PSOE over PP or vice versa.

It´s the first time in history that a terrorist group is able to influence the results of general elections in a western country. Islamic terrorism seems to be increasingly sophisticated as a political force. Special thanks to Imperialism.

The PSOE didn't win because of Al Qaeda, they won because Aznar went against the people, blamed Basque seperatists for Islamic fundamentalist terror, pretended that Spain wasn't attacked for entering Iraq... I could go on.

In short, Spaniards do not see the difference between justifying an illegal war and justifying terrorism. Really, what is the difference between a missile and a carbomb that both kills innocent civilians?

Things don't just happen, as much as the right would like to have us believe "evil" causes the worlds problems - it doesn't. You can't lay the blame at the door of some mystical force in the universe.

It´s wise for European governments to pay attention to what their people think before they enter in imperialist adventures with the USA. Who will be next? There will be a next, after all.

Now that Spain has accepted defeat in the Iraq war it probably wont be targeted anymore. I'm sure an imperialist country still fighting in Iraq will be next.

Australia? UK? Estonia? Or maybe Poland, which immediately promised to replace the leaving Spanish troops. I think Poland or Australia. Both are easy targets, and both have shown strong support. (at least, tried to)
