Not to sound like a suck-up, but I really liked ABA better than RCR. While RCR is a lot bigger than ABA, it's the sadistic difficulty that killed it for me. Without giving any spoilers, I'll say that the final boss battle was brutal. (At least I think it was the final boss; I never managed to beat him.) The boss only has a brief window of vulnerability; and you can only take three hits, or sometimes one, if the game just decides on a whim to be extra cruel. Needless to say, dying means you have to restart the entire battle. Unless you have something to do and have to take a break, then the game kicks you back much further. I just gave up on it.
