What i ment wasnt so much that accidents eventually turn into murders, just that police work isnt all car chases and gunfights. Plus of course its gotta be funny and awesome or else nobody would get through the first three forths of the film, which is definatly not as intense as the last little bit.
So yeah it was funny but they kinda do it by being boring.
