You buy it by the Kg, not in quarters. I guess you might buy a quarter of a wheel of cheese but I've never done that.
One thing go note about the English cheese industry is that we call three quarters of a wheel of cheese a
pacman of cheese. It's rare you'd ever want to buy a whole pacman of cheese though.
In terms of time we do our best to confuse foreigners by saying things like "it's quarter past" and omitting the actual hour (as a result of this no one in england ever knows the exact time).
Rhyming slang is only really used by Northern bread salesmen and criminals. Some slang has made its way south though; gypsy's kiss (piss) for example.
