How do you know that your government isn't totalitarian/communist, isn't spewing propaganda, 1984 style, and that North Korea is actually a democratic country. Simple. You don't know. I'm not saying this is or isn't the case. I'm just saying that

If that is the case, then that article is disinformation to make Americans think that their country is better than North Korea.

In 1984, the government waged eternal wars to distract the public from their horrible living conditions and to make them unquestioningly follow the government. The US government is waging 2 eternal wars, the war on drugs, and the war on terrorism. We don't know for sure if they are being waged to distract the public and make them give up their rights and blindly folow the government. However, it is possible that those 2 wars are being waged for those purposes.

I'm pretty sure this has all been said before in that other 1984 thread that people mentioned, so, whatever.
