Just got back from my holiday. Cyprus is a small country situated in between Turkey, Greece and Syria - as such it's quite middle-eastern in both climate and culture. When we first arrived we jumped in the first taxi we came across. The in-land portion of the drive was rather reminiscent of the level of CoD4 in which you're driven to your execution. In fact I think the taxi was actually the same model of car as in that sequence. Luckily things got a bit nicer once we reached the tourist areas around the coast.
Pictures:

The room we were staying in was very basic but we only really slept there so we didn't care.

Here we are looking a little flustered from the heat.
Indeed the view was also slightly disappointing. Just to the left is the sea but straight ahead we could admire a load of old catering equipment and some construction work
So yeah - the majority of the rooms had a nice view of sea.
Beach in the early evening. Still really hot.
Beach at sunset. At which point we hit the bars for some overly elaborate cocktails.
Almost took an eye out a couple of times with the sparklers and weird things poking out of the glass.
The next day we saw a cat.
