I suspect that you hate it not because of it's quality, but merely because it's a trendy "cult" flick. (I use the term loosely.)

Personally, I didn't think it was THAT great, but that didn't change the fact that it was new and interesting. I don't care how many American History X fans fawn over it, I still like Donnie Darko.


Now, you wanna talk overrated shitty movies, how bout that History of Violence? Man, what a piece of shit.

Donnie Darko was a good movie. I do agree that the amount of people who say it's the greatest movie ever is mind-boggling. It's definately not a milestone in filmmaking or anything like that.

i dont hate it cause its trendy, i hate it cause its over rated, all these idiots think its so terriffic and meanwhile awsome movies like freeway 2, family enforcer, shrunken heads, night on earth and other superior cult-ish movies go unrecognized

Wierd is in and some people identify with certian things that they find entertaining. I don't get the Rabbit thing or the engine thing or most of the stupid movie and look to Terry Gilliam films for my wierd.

It got incredibly deep in the collectors version. The movie itself was alright though. Nothing mind-bendingly awesome, but a pretty decent movie.
