As the first first-person shooter for the PS2 (I think), Red Faction was an undisputed smash-hit. Its fast-paced gameplay and imaginative story of a Communist revolution on Mars really struck a chord with gamers all those years ago. But now, in the age of Halo 2, the first-person shooter genre has certainly evolved into something else. That, of course, does not mean RF is a bad game. But will we keep playing it? How do you all think RF will withstand the test of time?

PS: More Test of Times will come if this gets popular!

I doubt it will withstand the test. It was kind of fun, but there wasn't much to set it aside from other shooters, aside from the Geomod.

I wish geo mod would have caught on. If it got more attention it could have rattled the FPS course of evolution in a totally different direction. I was pissed beyond beleif with RF2 however, they took almost all of what made the first RF good and just dropped it. There like YOUR THE DEMO GUY BUT OH NOES YOU CAN'T BLOW ANYTHING UP LOLOLOLOL ROFL fooled you.

Red Faction's deathmatch was beautiful. Halo 2 has not done that much for FPS games, so don't start thinking that it's any kind of standard. In fact, when you think about it, Halo is like Unreal Tournament for the non-gamer.

I always used to play RF at lan parties when i was a geek. It was super fun. But you cant really play it online anymore though as everyone 'mods' aka cheats like fuck. Its a shame really as its a good game.

On PC btw, the PS2 version no-doubt sucks.

I understand what you mean, but I'm reluctant to not consider it the standard for FPS's. I mean, it is the super-duper-king-kamehameha of them all from a sales standpoint. I'm willing to bet way more poeple have played Halo 2 than UT.

Halo multiplayer really hasn't changed since Marathon 1 ('94?) with the exceptions of hand-thrown grenades and vehicles.
