Is it me, or has Nalds let all the fight go out of him on account of Vince stealing his thunder.

Nalds. I swear. Vince is just the flavor of the month. I promise I don't feel any more about you just cause there's a bigger, bolder, more mentally ill buffoon prancing and swaggering around on the boards like Subway Jared on Espresso. I'll always have a spot in my heart for you, and I know you'll have a soft spot in your head for me.

Yes, I've been worried our lavishing Vince with attention may have hurt Ronnie's feelings.

Vince is able to put forth twice as much ignorant crap in an even less intelligible form than Raygun. How can he compete?

We should make it up to Ronnie. Let's schedule a day when we let Ranxer write posts for us, and when Ronnie replies, we'll retort with conspiracy theories and anti-Americanism.

Well, I think it's just sad how Naldo has allowed Vince to deflate him.

The bluster, the provocation, all gone, leaving nothing but weak willed, empty little one liners every now and then.

So much for the courage of convictions. A psychotic wanders in with a larger set of lungs and a fatter mouth and the #1 I-mockery Villian just takes his glove and goes home.

Maybe Vince acted like a big "psycho mirror" which, upon reflection, scared him a lot.

Then again, you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar so I'll put out this lil' "Ronnie Snack" and see if he takes the bait:

Anyway, the economy is getting better and the war went well.

Bush will win reelection.

Baghdad doctors overwhelmed by arrival of 100 patients an hour

By Paul Peachey
07 April 2003

Hospitals in Baghdad are in danger of being overwhelmed by the huge numbers of wounded people brought in for treatment, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) warned yesterday.

An average of 100 patients an hour had been taken to the Yarmouk hospital, one of about five in the city that can treat the war wounded, it said.

Medical staff working round the clock without breaks were also hampered by power cuts and the lack of clean water. Back-up generators were being used at the hospitals but they needed to be shut down occasionally to prevent them from overheating.

The Red Cross said the situation was particularly worrying in the south of the city where smaller hospitals were unable to cope with an influx of injured people. A bombed bridge and the danger of heavy fighting meant that the wounded could not be transferred to better-equipped hospitals nearer the city centre.

With many medical staff unable to reach hospitals because of the bombing, doctors were performing everything from surgery to taking blood, giving injections and ferrying the wounded.

Some of the attacks were so close to the hospitals that the wounded were walking in for treatment. The ICRC said they had not kept figures for those injured because emergency admissions had kept coming in. One doctor, Osama Saleh al-Duleimi, 48, who has witnessed two previous wars, said: "I've been a doctor for 25 years and this is the worst I've seen in terms of casualty numbers and fatal wounds."

US officials estimated there have been 2,000 Iraqi military deaths since the attack started on the outskirts of Baghdad. There were no accurate figures for civilian deaths.

Despite the pressures, the ICRC said yesterday that the hospitals still had enough dressings and surgical equipment to cope with the numbers coming in. But it warned that because of problems with the water supply, the hospitals were in urgent need of additional stocks. Water bags brought in before the attacks started had almost run out and another 30,000 one-litre bags were due to be distributed.

Emergency purification and water treatment works have been used since Thursday inside hospitals within the Medical City complex, north of the city centre on the banks of the Tigris, because of the failure of a nearby water treatment plant. There has been no sign so far of an epidemic.

An ICRC spokeswoman, Antonella Notari, said: "It's extremely hectic; the hospital staff are working round the clock without respite. All the reports from Baghdad and Basra suggest the medical personnel are extremely highly skilled and organised. It's just stretching their capacity and putting a lot of pressure on them."

Awwww, you must enjoy death! Right? Tell me Ronnie, does liberation cost an eye? How about a leg? Is there a deal on extra special liberation for only your right eye and a couple of fingers??? I hope the Iraqis still have hands to wave American flags with.

I can answer that.

Because the war is essentially over, it was only a matter of time, really.

And the job that remains, recovery, rebuilding, aiding the hurt, the sick, the newly homeless, burying the dead, these are insignificant details to Ronnie. Ronnie only views this war through polling data. He doesn't really care about the "liberation" of the Iraqi people, and he likewise knows that Iraq has never posed a real security threat to us. All he knows is that this war coming to a quick end aids his Party. That's his concern.

He supports this war because his president proposed this war. If Bush wants war in another couple of months, Ronnie will support it then, too. It doesn't matter who it is, it only matters that his ideologue demands it.

Exactly, Kevin. Raygun is an instant gratification kinda guy. For example, if the stock market jumps 200 points in one day, that, to him, is proof that the economy is doing great. Never mind layoffs, unemployment claims, profit warnings, or anything else. The Dow is up, ergo the economy is peachy.

Same with Iraq. We win the "war," so everything is great. Never mind the several years of occupation involved, in which we will surely see terrorist attacks against our troops. Never mind the ungodly amount of money it's going to cost American taxpayers. Or that it could make the economy much worse than it already is. Let's also ignore the strong possibilty that it could cause more instability in the region in the long run. Hell, India, as we've seen in another thread here, has already begun to adopt the Bush Doctrine of pre-emptive attacks.

That is such crap. You are just disappointed because it is clear that you were all wrong about how this thing would turn out.

Right, because I [i]clearly[/] had hopes that this war would drag on, produce massive casualties on both sides, and ultimately ruin Iraq. As someone who opposed, and still opposes this war, I am actually glad that we had the bigger toys, and that we can end this as swiftly as possible. The more efficiently it goes, the quicker it ends. That may sound very utilitarian, but I can't help it, I don't want to see storires such as the one I posted above, and I DON'T want to see men and women younger than me coming home in body bags.

You on the other hand Ronnie NEED this war to end quickly, not because of any genuine concern, but because it guarantees you in 2004. The civilian casualties haven't even been counted yet, and you have the stomach to talk about re-elections. That makes me ill.

First of all, it's nice to see that Naldo has not been so demoralized by Vince stealing his local loony boy thunder that he didn't jump like a thumped knee when provoked.

"He doesn't really care about the "liberation" of the Iraqi people, and he likewise knows that Iraq has never posed a real security threat to us. All he knows is that this war coming to a quick end aids his Party. That's his concern."
-Spaad

"That is such crap. You are just disappointed because it is clear that you were all wrong about how this thing would turn out."
-Naldo

I fear you are both wrong. Sspad, Naldo is a true believer. As to the "liberation" of the Iraqi people, I don't think that's very much of an issue for Nalds, but it isn't a non-issue. And I fully believe naldo thought that Iraq was armed to the teeth with WMD and instants away from using it or giving it away. I also think that's a really dumb ass thing to think, but no contradiction there at all.

And Naldo, you also are wrong. Your reading of how we thought things would 'turn out' is questionable at best, since at least MY primary concern is the global suffering the success of our current policy may engender, all of which is yet to be determined. And even your esteemed infallible leader W doesn't think the War is over yet, and said as much as recently as this morning. Again, who's wrong, you or him?

Kevin, I also beg to differ (aren't I contrary this A.M?) I don't think this War will be over for very long time,. We'll just call it something different. Pockets of resistnce, mopping up, intifadah, isolated acts of terrorism. We will control Iraq, but only with a military presence, and there will suicide bombings and snipers, who we will 'root out', there will be collateral damage inspioring more terrorism. In Israel the 'war' ended long ago, and yet it goes on.

On a final note to you, Nalds; Here's major way you and I differ. If Bush was proved right, a free democracy installed in Iraq that spread nonviolently to other middle East countries (and by some miracle the majority Shiite populations decided that as long as they could win elections they'd stop being anti-american and fundamentalists zealots) I would be very happpy, and would be very pleased to find myself wrong. If however, the situation dissintegrates, countries are destabalized, terrorsim increases, civil rights disintigrate you will strap on horse blinders, yell CONSPIRACY until your throat bleeds, happily purchase a brown shirt and blame your joblessness, lack of health benefits and crushing poverty on Liberals.
