It's really long-winded and pretentious and there's enough story for about 3 books (which is why it's so long) but I think I like it. It took about 50 pages before I started to get into it, but once you get used to the way it's written, with constant transitions into flashbacks and skipping forward in time and running on for paragraphs with sort of vague metaphors, it's actually a pretty fun book.
