It's time to get off your ass and do away with the Faygo because American Gladiators is soon to be back in production:

Quote:
NBC is getting into the ring with "American Gladiators," which has been revived by the Peacock for midseason.

The competition skein -- which featured players with names like Nitro, Turbo and Laser in its campy, early '90s syndie incarnation -- will be updated for the 21st century with new technology and twists. MGM TV, which was behind the original hit, is producing along with Reveille...

...This time, in a new wrinkle, the players will be given the opportunity to train for their match -- and viewers will be given a glimpse of their personalities prior to the actual competish.

I remember wasting countless hours watching this show years ago. The tennis ball gun game was great, as was joust and the hamster ball game or whatever the hell it was called.

It sounds like it's going to be some reality show elements tossed into the mix, but if it means watching regular joes get pelted in the head with a tennis ball, i'll watch.

If by new technology they mean green screen then they can count me out!

Really, what technilogical advances are they implementing in a show that is only a little more then a decade and a half old. Blue neon lights? Give me a break, The Peacock!

Maybe they'll use baseballs instead of tennis balls this time.

Hopefully the won't fuck this up too bad.

I think the "new technology" is going to be in video production rather than the actual competition. A cute way of just saying it's going to look like a new show instead of an old one. :P

Sounds like it'll be like Fear Factor in how we learn the person's life story five minutes before he's booted off the Human Cannonball.

As much as I loved this show, I'd rather watch GUTS or Ninja Warrior.

It should at least beat that Ninja Challenge show or whatever it's called. I've always preffered MxC though.

You can't really compare MXC and Sasuke/Kunoichi.

MXC is hilarious because of the perverted voice-overs and bone-crushing falls.
Ninja Warrior is great because you get to see people who've trained for years, and their hopes and dreams crushed in an instant.

That being said, American Gladiators was as much a part of my childhood as breastfeeding and the Terminator movies. So, I'm pretty pumped

Anyone else watching this? Not that I was expecting it to be any good, but I was hoping that it would at least be entertaining.

The dubbing & edits on MxC make me cringe and I have to turn it off pretty quickly.

The British version with commentary by Craig Charles has me laughing for hours. ;(

Wazzocks!

Damn, Gladiatiors was the shit back in the 90s, but I have a bad feeling about this.

Man, I still remember the special show when our gladiators had the nerve to challenge the American ones, only to get viciously raped.

I hope Hulk Hogan comes out wailing on a pink flying V guitar playing the original theme. That's pretty much the only way I'll watch it.

Sad thing is that I can still remember most of their names

Few years ago it was revealed that one of those chicks, I don't know which one, used steroids during the show. She is now in jail, not because of steroids, but because of a murder(Known as cut up murders in here, because she literally cut her victim to pieces).

Oh, and do notice Tony "Ludvig Borga" Halme.
