I had a big rant about this until I realized you were talking about a different game.

There's this MMO called Dark Age of Camelot, which has amazing graphics, due to the fact that they've scrapped 2 graphics engines in the long time it's been out. In fact, the biggest graphics complaint I have with the game is unless you have a brand new video card, 2GB RAM, and a hoss processor, you have to turn every setting to minimal or log in with a client using one of the old graphics engines.

It's PvP, IMO, has the best endgame of any MMO I've played (the mid-level battlegrounds aren't bad either, but sadly aren't populated til about level 20, which can be a tough level to achieve not knowing anything about the game or having any help). PvP is based on picking one of three homeland factions when you start. Each faction has different races and classes to pick from, and a PvP-safe homeland to start in. After running through a series of tutorial quests you can jump right into a (absolutely desolate - due to how easy it is to get to about level 20) lowbie battleground. The battlegrounds will prepare you for the endgame, which is a frontier of three continents with a connecting island. Each continent has several keeps which you fight with the other realms for control, and relics that you can capture to give your entire realm a bonus.

As for cost, if you go to ebgames.com you can get the base game with the first three non-free expansions and the two free ones in a box for 20 bux. The monthly rate on it is 15 bucks like any other MMO if you don't pay for multiple months at a time, but it's old enough that there are some free euro servers (running a few patches out of date, but who cares) if you know where to look.

I've played WoW, Dark Age of Camelot, Anarchy Online (free version only - tho I'm considering upgrading to a paying account just to check it out), Guild Wars, and Ragnarok (for a week - lol), and honestly, DAoC has had the best PvP of any of MMO I've played.

No you can't, it makes hacking easier, That's one of the reasons you can't bring you're diablo 2 character into Battle.net. (Yes I know that isn't a MMO). Trainers I think, cannot commuincate online, so they have no way to change the char's stats, exp, gold, ect.

Then keep the single player characters local and the multiplayer remote. Like...Diablo II.

Well, most pepole probaley wouldn't play it then and it'd be a waste of time and money and programming.EDIT: Also games like WoW, have avery team-based dungeons which require pepole to go with. And raids too for endgame.

Single-player mode is easy. You just go to a non-PvP server and turn off all the chat channels.

The MM means Massively Multiplayer, so technically, Guild Wars and other small-scale multiplayer games are off-topic, and single player games are REALLY off-topic.

I've never heard of a MMO with a single-player mode. Emu, it sounds like your complaint is more with the concept of MMOs than specifically with WoW.

Actually most MMOs have solo type classes. Stealthers or whatever. WoW did an exceedingly good job of allowing any class to be able to do things solo, while bringing something unique to a team. Try fighting an even level monster with a healer type character in any other MMO and let me know how it goes...

Soldat was fun about 2 years ago. Maple story started out promising. But it pretty much degraded into about 200 retards standing in the outskirts of towns selling stuff and lagging out the game.

Well, that game kinda is meant for online play, and it's multiplayer, and alot of people play it, so it's totally-fucking-justified

You're looking for an excuse to dismiss me, which ironically saves you a 'faggoty fan boy' seat on the home team. I never said that an MMO having bad graphics makes it inherently bad. In a post about comparing MMOs, I DARED to compared their graphics as well. I'm really sorry if I hurt your feelings; Is there something else I should avoid talking about? I can probably dance around talking about the economy if that would help.

but an MMORPG that a lot of people play is a plus, especialy when you can chat to gamers in real life about it. conversations tend to go like this tho:

me: do you play WoW?
them: yeah on the defias derver, got a lv60 druid and lv55 mage, what do you have?
me: im play on earthen ring, got a lv40 orc warrior and a lv60 human paladin...
them: WHAT DID YOU SAY??
(get beaten by paladin haters)
That sounds wonderful. That aside, Guild Wars is a perfect example of why quantity of players does not result in quality of gameplay.

Anyway I just find it distasteful when both Penny Arcade and SA can't bear to shut up about the game. Additionally, it's more or less a given that any overbearing dork has an account. It's not something I want to be a part of, like any other internet fad.

You didn't hurt my feelings sir. What you did was give me the impression that you care for only graphical capabilities.
I might of misread what your true point is/was/whatever. It still came off that you where judging only by graphics. You also seemed to be finding whatever reason you could not to give WoW a try. I want to try CoH, for I can not yet judge it to the other games I have played. (beta or otherwise) I have never been a drooling fanboy.

MMO = Massively Multiplayer Online. This means hundreds or thousands of players in one big world. RE: Outbreak allowed what? 4 people per game? 8 tops? It doesn't make a game MMO just because a lot of people play it. You obviously don't have the knowledge to function in this thread.
