I borrowed "a natural disaster" album from my friend and I think this is fucking great!
What ive read on the internet, the other albums are a lot heavier and even better than this one. Which album should I get next?

you should burn this album and throw the remains away and never listen to anything by anathema that isn't Serenades, Pentecost III, Crestfallen EP or the illiad of woes demo.

I didnt really like their other albums either but you should still give them a try melvin. Anathema rocks though check out "shape of dispair" sounds alot different but you might like them.

Helm's right on the money. Ignore everything but what he mentioned.

Serenades, definitely. J'ai Fait Une Promesse sounds like it's sung by a fuckin angel, and the rest of the album is just dark, gritty depressing shit. Normally, I don't go for that, but this is well written, not goth-poem like.

Actually, I-Mockery is the reason I own Serenades. Thank you.

I tried pentecost and serenades, but I thought they were quite boring.
Natural Disaster is still their best album, but I liked A Fine Day To Exit too.

You don't understand those earlier albums, which I guess is ok, since they're not for everybody. I guess you didn't even try. Some music makes you work for it. The newer stuff is very very accessible though, so I guess congratulations on being musically shortsighted enough to neglect real musical treasures in favour of instant (and cheap) gratification by yet another horrible radiohead clone.

Thank you, I guess. :/
I really wanted to like those albums, but like I said, I found them to be boring. But thats just my opinion.
And I agree with you, that the new albums are quite similar to Radiohead (especially AFDTE), but I wouldnt call it a horrible clone.

to understand these albums, you must understand and enjoy doom metal even a little.

And yes, horrible clone is putting it mildly for a band that was once so great.

i've been a anathema fan for a pretty long time, and i really like the earlier doomier stuff quite a bit...but i have to say that "judgement" is by far my favorite. it's one of the few albums that gives me goosebumps everytime.

All their doom-stuff is great. Judgement and Eternity are the only cd's I've got that arent froom the doom era, and they are pretty good too.
