Helm is probably a spambot
Old May 2nd, 2005, 02:11 PM        drill and bass and also, helm!
I asked a friend of mine who writes and produces drill and bass music (amongst other things) to put down a couple of minutes of fragmented beats because I wanted to try to record guitars over them. So he did. And I did. I knew it would be difficult, but it surpassed my expectations by a million miles. I think the result is cool so I am telling you to check it out! Feedback welcome, although I never intend to do this again.

oh yeah, it's an ogg so I dunno if singleclicking will work in most browsers. Save as, I guess.

I've cried enough on here about how I'm very tired of ____ n bass in all of its forms, but I won't hold that against you. It sounds very chaotic, which is probably what you were going for, although with those chopped breaks, you didn't really have much of a choice. It's interesting, but I'd like to hear more. Was any processing done to the guitar track(s)?

was there any processing done to the guitar tracks? hahaha 20% is playing, 80% is processing. I can't program a gapper properly to save my life, so I had to chop the waveforms by hand all over the place. It was fun. You won't hear more of this because I am not willing to do it again :P

and thanks for liking it, guys.

hey, thanks. I wanted to ask, since this is I guess, more your field than mine? is there anybody else around that is doing anything similar? electronic chopped up percussion with this kind of involved guitar splicing?

Also, I'd love to listen to your band, and good luck with the lightning bolt live.

well, i honestly really don't know much about drill 'n bass. not much of a fan for the most part, but i do think you should definitely check out octis. it's really just uber-fast drum-machine and guitar but i think you'd like them. but no, i can't think of anyone doing that offhand.

i'll try and post an mp3 of today's apple snails rehearsal that we had today.
