I find myself pointed to the more punky or comedic Christmas tunes myself. Yet whenever I hear these guys, it is a rather pleasant change of pace from the standards that gets plaid from October to January in most department stores.

I'm a big Savatage fan, so this always ends up annoying my friends by being overplayed in my car all December.

I'll always love quirky Christmas tunes more than anything, and tunes from the Trans-Siberian Orchestra are definitely overplayed in certain stores around this time o' the year, but I'll gladly take that over some of the other crap they play.

For some real holiday pain, try listening to Mannheim Steamroller; you'll miss Paul McCartney.

But I don't necessarily hate Christmas music, there are some -such as the Trans-Siberian Orchestra- who do it really well, and I really respect artists who can be arsed to write original songs. There are many, many more who don't, however. The problem is that since it's all public domain and there's no need to hire a songwriter, anyone with a big enough ego can just hit the demo button on a keyboard and crap out a holiday album. It's really bad if you work somewhere that only allows secular holiday music; then you have to tolerate the same ten songs covered hundreds of times, as opposed to the same thirty. And honestly, I don't want to hear "Let It Snow" ever again unless I just finished watching Die Hard.
