Saw it today. Wasnt impressed. There were few pretty cool fight scenes and Jack Black was better than he usually is, but the movie was just too long, there were loads of pointless characters and the ending sucked.
Well, I really wasnt expecting anything great and I was somewhat entertained so it wasnt a total waste of money, I guess.

Fat chance. (pun intended 'cause Peter Jackson is fat lol)

Anyway, the thing that bugged me the most was the lenght. Why the hell did this have to be over 3 hours long, especially when there really wasnt any good reasons for it. :/

I think its because Jackson wanted the Scene on the island to be the most memorable part of the movie (as it was in his childhood) so he pretty much pulled a whole lot of needless scenes.

And whats this I hear about Kong no longer killing the T-Rex by cramming a tree down its throat and breaking its neck?

I actually wanted to see this but after hearing about the length I'm having some serious doubts. I wasn't really expecting much but I haven't been to the picture show in a while.

Obviously you haven't seen Jackson lately. The man is thin as a rail.

Also: Show some god damned fortitude, people. Three hours is a cakewalk.

I saw the midnight release. Sure, getting home at 3:30 a.m. just to get up for my job at 4:30 a.m. was crappy, but it, in my opinion, was fucking worth it.

The movie rolled, only once did I check my watch, and that was to confirm that it took about a hour just to see Kong. Yet, it has backstory, it has depth, I enjoyed it.

All in all, way better then that 80's remake shit.

King Kong more like Orson Welles: Monster Hunter

This movie was way better than I thought it would be, it totally kicked my ass. But Jackson better not be releasing an extended DVD. It's a GOOD movie about a big ape, but it's still basically a movie about a big ape. Three hours is more than enough.

I personally think it was quite good, 3 hours is kinda long but after I left the theater, I felt I got the bang for my money and didnt feel ripped off like most 60 - 70 minute movies ~

Plus the pacing is quite good for a 3 hour movie, could have been shorter but satisfactory nontheless. It was also more faithful a remake to the old 1933 classic ^^

The King Kong remake was released in 1976.

just came back from seeing it.

and it was awesome. some scenes did drag on a bit, but it all came togather great. all the little nods to the original movie were great and of course....

the RAT MONKEY CAGE!

who knows, it might lead to king kong 2: kong Vs lionels mother

I enjoyed the hell out of it. It may have been long, but it was great eye candy. I loved the fight with the T-Rexes and the Empire State Building scene was a joy to watch.
