It's on Cnn's homepage now. Not sure how to embed the video.

Pretty amazing. Basically a blind kid made a message on skype asking for help beating the game(legend of zelda ocarina of time). Three kids who never met him spent two years documenting every single move and making it into the most detailed game guide ever which the blind kid used by having his computer read it him as he played. I can't even imagine beating that game blind.

If that is true then I can't even imagine how difficult it would have been going through the trial and error of mapping out the exact movements you have to do to beat every single enemy and boss that you stumble upon withing the game, let alone the puzzles.

If it is true I want to know how he was able to navigate Hyrule Field. Did the guide say "Hold the stick at a 45 degree angle for 10 seconds then rotate clockwise 90 degrees and hold for 20." or some shit? How can he get that shit perfect? If he missed just one bridge or doorway by a few inches it would throw the whole thing off. What about the horse? When you call that bitch she doesnt always show up and stand in the same position relative to Link every time. His ass had to have someone help him navigate around at least.

I've beaten Gannon in LTTP and Minvera(?) from Xenosaga and fell asleep during the battle but this story seems a bit unreal.

I think it's impossible, shit was hard enough with eyes. But then again he could have used audio cues to tell certain things, like "rotate the thumb stick in larger and larger clockwise circles, pressing blue, until you hear the beep that signifies you are getting on Epona."

Would have taken YEARS.

"Move 60 degrees at full speed for four seconds, spin attack QUICK QUICK THE FUCKING BATS ARE ALREADY ATTACKING YOU. Fucking hell you got hit, that put you off course by two steps in what we can deduce to be OH FUCK pull back on the stick to aim the bow HURRY FOR FUCKS SAKE shoot SHOOOOOOT!"

watch the video for your answers. i think its real. the kids who made the instructions would even play the game blindfolded to make sure their directions were accurate.

Probably not, seeing as there's no voice acting, so unless someone read a transcript to him too he'd probably have no idea what the context for all his adventuring was anyway.

Plus, half the fun of Ocarina of Time wasn't even the main quest, it was just fucking around exploring the overworld and finding all the secrets and doing the sidequests and shit. I think my favorite thing to do in the game is still dive off the top of Gerudo canyon and faceplant on one of the rock ledges over the river.

This thing has gotten me wondering about games a blind person would actually enjoy, though!

I can't think of any. I read about another blind guy who was good at fighting games, but fighting games are fucking gay.

My advice to this kid would be to just take up bushido and become the most feared man on the planet.

The idea is that you're a monster and people get through into your water pit. You navigate by sound alone, listening for the victim's breathing. When you get close enough, you can feel their heart beating, at which point you press a button and devour them. More advanced victims need to be crept up on or else they'll dart over to elsewhere in the pit.

I've only got an ok 2-speaker system setup. I'm sure it's a lot more fun with surround sound.

I still call shenanigans. The blind kid saying "The impossible is just something that hasn't been tried yet" doesn't make it any more believable. They never actually show the blind kid doing it either, or ever interviewed the blind kid, just one of the other "three" that helped. Even then he's not doing the game, he's just rolling forward again and again, and getting hit. Show me the video of someone playing it blindfolded, facing the other way, by following read out instructions. Not just walking around either, doing the part in Garrudo canyon where you have to shoot the targets with a bow while riding a horse.

If you lost your bearings (getting hit, or just missing a turn or something) it would be difficult in the extreme to ever get back on course, what then, reset?
