Authority? So they own it now since they published it first. Them's some hellasish copyright laws.

Since the Catholic church were the seats for many (most?) of the first major academic institutions in Europe, wouldn't it be incredibly easy to keep the common man in the dark as Ziggy proposed since the majority of them couldn't read? I wonder why the majority of them couldn't read? Wouldn't it have been in the christian spirit to teach them?
