Old Feb 13th, 2006, 05:18 PM        W 'MORE INTERETED IN TOMORROW THAN YESTERDAY'
Uh huh. I would be too if I were him.

The Katrina report compiled by an exclusively REPUBLICAN panel blames all level of government for failure, but reserves it's harshest criticism for the department of Homeland Security. A few choice quotes:

"If this is what happens when we have advance warning, we shudder to imagine the consequences when we do not. Four and a half years after 9/11, America is still not ready for prime time."
-Katrina Report

"The White House failed to de-conflict varying damage assessments and discounted information that ultimately proved accurate. The president's Homeland Security team did not effectively substantiate, analyze and act on the information at its disposal."
-Katrina Report

Allen Abney, a White House spokesman, said President Bush had "full confidence" in his homeland security team and was involved in the storm response from beginning to end.

"The president is less interested in yesterday and more interested with today and tomorrow," Mr. Abney said, "so that we can be better prepared for next time."

I'm really at a loss for what it would take at this point to cause his constituency to hate him. As far as I can tell, as long as you hate the queers with a passion, you can get away with murder in this country.

Well. On the executive level, anyway.

What are you talking about?

No one sees a hurricane that devestates an entire city as a reason to not continue support for a President that called up the 82nd Airborne to help out; it is not as if the President micromanages relief efforts (this is up to Governors, Mayors, etc.) so I could not see how this would cause him to lose his constiutency.

KittyKat, it's one thing to micromanage a relief effort, it's quite another thing to be absolutely useless in the face of the desctruction of an entire American city. We're not talking the regular floods the south gets every year, we're talking about the strongest hurricane on record taking a rubber eraser to our map. He saw ALL of this and blatantly, in the face of the aftermath of Katrina, he congratulated the man HE PUT IN CHARGE for doing a good job.

On one hand we have "not micromanaging a relief effort" and on the other hand we have "documented footage of a president so inept he cannot even identify a catastrophic failure of federal emergency relief."

Why do you even defend this guy? Did he personally blow you or something? Or are you just trying to disagree with Max at this point?

Also, if you're going to be really, really, really stupid and not just really stupid, can you at least mangle your sentences more? I could barely pay attention to that last post.

Before the devestation was clear, he said 'good job' and then later recanted and the guy resigned. It is a sticky situation, but how does this one issue obscure everything?

See, max... Had you bothered to pick up the book I'd recommended for you, you'd understand what I mean when I talk about "giving them what they want."

I have said this before: I believe there is an underlying genius to the obviously "Un-Republican" side of the Bush Administration, and I'm I'm not talkin' bout Karly, neither.

DHS: The largest single bureacracy ever attempted by man, but instituted by the RNC.

Rx Program: The largest single entitlement program since the 60's, also instituted by the RNC DESPITE the complete lack of need for it or any public support.

Instead of hoping to drown the government in a bathtub ala Grover, they are gonna pop it.

I like that plan. I'd prefer a more open approach, but I suppose that might not work... at least this way (if that's even what they are doing) seems to be working. The opposition (and I'm not talking about any particular party... the R's are all porking it up big time) to a less socialistic government seems to be on the defensive much more so than during Newt's revolution.

mburbank~ Yes, okay, fine, I do know what you meant, but why is it not possible for you to get through a paragraph without making all the words cry?

How can someone who obviously thinks so much of their ideas have so little respect for expressing them? How can someone who so yearns to be taken seriously make so little effort?!
