Old Aug 24th, 2004, 08:18 AM        Stupid people from imdb thread
Whenever I find something stupid enough worth mentioning over at imdb, I'll post it here. Feel free to do the same.

First up: Hellboy is too complicating. This review is based on the trailer.

Quote:
encouraging not to see this.....

sorry, I know must people here will be mad because I am posting this. But, I seriously encourage you not to see this. Horror/action movies before were so much better, less complicating, and less stupid...like Deep Blue Sea, Lake Placid, house on haunted hill, the haunting, and etc....
Some sick, messed up, teenagers (I am a teen though) are running hollywood and its sick. This movie looks sick, ridiculous and just stupid and discusting. This won't last for long, eventually the good horror/action movies will come back, like shark movies, less complicating not some "hellboy" red demon guy with a tail. anyone agree?? Sue: (obviously embarrassed) Jack's just teasing...actually we met through friends.
Jack: I guess that's true. Friends dropped her off at the bar where I picked her up.
Sue: Jack!!!
Jack: Isn't she cute when she gets steamed?

Whenever I read up on movie info on IMDb, I try not to scroll down too far. If I read any of the message board topics, it makes me want to cut out my heart.

Yeah, I know. It's like a thousand clones of arrowx, sports and payne were locked in a thousand different rooms and only had access to that one site.

Anywa, Starshinegirl45 strikes back:

Quote:
This isn't just about hellboy, its about all teen movies that are taking over movie theaters. And why do people keep saying that I don't spell things correctly? can you prove that? And by the way, I am not fat....I know someone made a comment about that earlier.
Someone also said that Hellboy is hot because of his personality, assuming they mean that I only care about looks because I said hellboy wasn't attractive. so not true. For example I can't stand players. Which is why I am not obsessed with rap music as much as most girls are. I might be the only girl my age that isn't obsessed with Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom, or Ben Affleck (no offense to those who like them), but their not the greatest actors, they made it in hollywood because of their looks, and I don't even think their that attractive anyway...they don't have a strong personality, which is why I am not obsessed with them. ok I'll tell you guys something, you'll laugh at me repeatedly, but who cares....when I was younger I had a crush on Chuck Norris. Why? He has a personality. All the actors I have a crush on have personality, other wise I would not have a crush on them.

Not imdb, but an amazon.com review

Quote:
(1 out of 5 stars) NEVER LOOK AT THE ZAPRUDER FILM, January 29, 2004
Reviewer: Sanjay Iyer (Rockaway, NJ United States) - See all my reviews

Whether you're an assassination buff or not, this is NOT A GOOD FILM TO SEE, especially understanding that the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 were witnessed live on television.

Television on September 11, 2001 WAS REALLY REALLY REALLY A ZAPRUDER FILM TO THE CORE AND WAS REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY SHOCKING TO THE CORE!!!!!

I don't think the Zapruder Film is worth seeing because the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon were witnessed live on television, especially seeing the second plane hit the World Trade Center, as well as the buildings coming down, all live on television, which made it more than look like scene out of a movie, but scene out of a Zapruder Film.

First Lady Laura Bush IS VERY STRONG on viewing this with children, because of how they reacted to the terrorist attacks on the United States, and also to the bombing in Oklahoma City.

Summary: ROMANTIC story which sense of humor and MAGIC

GOOD movie even the ending is to simple.

IF THEY DON'T LIKE IT THEN MUST BE THEY NEVER FEEL THE MAGICAL OF LOVE AND ROMANCE.

I like the story which not make us boring and especially full with true life. It really make sense, I meant let just see. Sometimes man always to scare to fall in love. Beside Sara and Sean is acting good, they're really play natural. Song "Once in a blue moon" from Sydney Forest is a perfect choose for this film ending.

SOMETIMES LET OUR LIFE SEE MIRACLE AND BELIEVE SOMETHING DIFFERENT, NOT JUST TRUE LIFE WHICH CAN MAKE US CRY OR SAD. WE NEED TO HAVE FUN.

Summary: Love very unpredictable

What can I say? it is really can happens in our life. The ending is truely can happen, he must go better than look at her died.

Keanu is a great actor that I ever saw, he can expression very well his emotion, it's hard if you never love someone. Charlize Theron her acting is always same for me, she always got same clown (being in love, cry and sadness).

HOW IF IT HAPPENS IN YOUR LIFE?

Summary: bad movies

Very bad movies from Tom Cruise. The story is really complicated if you not watched carefully you wouldn't know what the story about. Penelope is can't acting, she not showing enough her expression I'm like see a robot without enough expression from her. Actually Tom is good enough for his act, it just the story is very can not understood for human being. I give 3 for this film score.
Basic Instinct

Summary: EROTIC THRILLER with USUAL STORY

Let facade it we all like this film not because the story, but because many sex and Sharon is a naked. The plot summary is to easy to guess for us and the story is to usual. But Stone is good acted so is Michael. Wow this is hot movie and good movie than movie that people made now. I wonder if HOLLYWOOD COULD MAKE THRILLER MOVIE LIKE 'BASIC INSTINCT' ANYMORE?
Let facade it indeed.

Quote:
First of all, "bad acting"? um, excuse me? bad acting?
are you retarded? bad acting?! Rider Strong, Rider King Strong, was in it!
do you call that bad acting? Rider is the best of the best, you can not
get any better than Rider, so sorry, but there is no bad acting in this
movie!

Second of all, I was reading an interview with Rider, and he was saying about
how, during the shooting of the movie, him and the cast/crew invisioned this
as a comedy, not a horror movie, so...
Ooh yeah, Rider is soooo dreamy!! If hes in a movie, it has to be good one!

Good arguments there, missy!
I hate it when some 14 year old girl is defending some pathetic excuse for a movie just because her love of the month happens to be acting in it. And second of all, who the fuck is Rider Strong?

Once I used to believe that my intolerance to see movies in the theater was because I was a snob until I heard someone in Hollywood Video say out loud and with all the honesty in the world "I don't like Dawson's Creek because it's too complicated."

And that wasn't as funny and frightening at this quote. Goddamn it, no wonder there are no good movies/shows anymore. Christ.

She said nothing about the boy's looks. It's interesting that you are interpreting it that way. This reveals that you either find Rider Strong attractive yourself, or you beleive that all women unreasonably equate looks with talent. It's possible she was being ironic, as well, as Rider Strong has almost no reputation as being a good actor or even a heartthrob of any kind (at least that I know of). In fact, he kinda fell off the map the past few years.

Also, how do WE even know it was a girl who posted this?

A 14 year old girl is probably too young to be into Rider Strong. It's possible I guess. Rider Strong kind of hit it big on Boy Meets World. I'm 20 years old, and me and my who came of age watching TGIF knew quite well who he is, and made many a Boy Meets World reference when making light-hearted fun of Cabin Fever while it played at the theater we worked at.

Now, adressing your hatred of the movie:

(this is from the post of the girl mad melvin was making fun of)

Quote:

why didn't you adress THIS? I could support these claims that the movie was supposed to be funny, and I mean aside from the obvious jokes in the movie. I thought Cabin Fever was a riot, and I own it on DVD.

true, but Im assuming that she likes him, because about 90% of all her posts has the name "Rider Strong" mentioned.

Quote:

Im not sure, but I think shes a girl because of the fact that she calls some male actors hot.

But I admit that my previous post was kinda stupid. I posted it, because I had just watched cabin fever and it was so bad it made me angry. I mean, I love campy horror films, but this one wasnt funny or entertaining at all and the acting made me want to stab myself in the brain.

Cabin Fever was alot of fun without turning Troma and funny without turning Wayans. I know there are people on this board that I have a slight bit of respect for that didn't like it, but you're a shittily annoying person in general Melvin.

Sorry to bump such an old thread, but here comes more!

Mr. Show:

Quote:
coolidgefan01

Date: 22 May 2003
Summary: Gender bias at to the max

A wonderful show to watch but never have I seen something to degrading to women. The title alone gives away the pseudo machoism before you even start watching, 'Mr.' How degrading can you be? In the skit 'Change for a dollar' you can also notice that at every level of business a man is in charge, from store clerk to president. What I can't believe about the whole thing is that no one else notices such an over sight. Nobody looks at the gender bias issue on television anymore. Maybe I am just a little more enlightened then the rest.
Princess Diaries 2

Quote:
limyiling_91
singapore

Date: 6 November 2004
Summary: this movie doesn't need any rocks to rule.

i thought this was a great movie! the cast is nice, anna hathaway is just fit for a princess cos shes pretty and chris pine is oso so nice and handsome too! and julie andrews fit as a great queen too. this movie is great and excellent..... and the movie totally rocks. it's unlike those kind of mushy romantic movies in which they do nothing but whisper sweet nothings. in this movie, there is humour, interest and a tingle of romance! so this is an almost perfect movie!yesss everyone should watch this movie! heyyy go grab a ticket before they;re all sold out! =) heyyy. good movie. yeaah . and the critics are all gd. mostly good. so. watch it now. yes.yuppp.
Kerose, 38, also approves!

Quote:
kerose
Dayton, Ohio

Date: 6 October 2004
Summary: Rip-Roaringly Funny! Mia Thermopolis for President!

I am a lover of comedy - the more a movie makes me laugh, the better! I'm also the king of the Situation Comedy (i.e., "Sitcom"), and my parents always say that it's fun to watch me watch television.

Now for the movie: I really didn't have high expectations. Was I ever in for a surprise! My wife, a young adult and children's librarian, has sneaked every Princess Diaries book home for me to read. (I'm the 38 year old father of my own 2 1/2 year old little princess.) I felt this movie was better than the first. Yes, the movie producers take quite a few liberties in their diversion from the books, but so what? It's just plain fun!

Part of the fun of this movie is the physical comedy aspects - a la Lucille Ball. I thought having the mattress sliding down an incline inside the castle was way cool, or Mia's best friend and mother hiding in the closet (each at different times), or riding side-saddled with a fake leg. Of course, Mia's klutziness greatly enhances the comedic opportunities! Then there's a surprise at the end, but I won't tell you what it is here since that would spoil the movie for those of you who have not seen it. (In the previews for the first movie, I just loved the scene where Mia caught her napkin on fire from the candles at a formal state dinner - I just knew I had to see that movie!)

Another reason this movie is fun: In this year of the presidential election and all the ensuing seriousness (a lot of angry people!), nothing could be more timely than this picture. Here you see Mia adjusting to being a princess, and then a queen of the fictitious country Genovia, and demonstrating true kindness. Even though she's a princess, she's still Mia, and you just fall in love with her! (Stop snickering -- my wife knows about all my crushes on female movie stars.) I wish Mia could be the president of the United States. Mia Thermopolis for President! (I bet she could straighten out the mess this country is in, too!) You go, girl!
Urotsukidôji: Richard knows his shit!

Summary: It made me think about Aids.

I know I am going to offend people by saying this. But when I was looking at this film I couldnt help to think this movie was about Aids. The similarities are breathtaking. For Instance.. in the movie the only way to get the "power" away from Nagumo is to either digest his blood or sperm. Hmm.. where have we heard this one before. Apart from that, You see his body decaying while changing into the overfiend. The overfiend then destroys the world. THE worlds standing obviously for HIS World. I know, I might be seeing things that arent there, but it was defenitely is what came to mind. Not saying that it is a bad movie. Some things were typically Japanese for me, seeing that made little or no sence. But overall the movie was enjoyable.

-D-
Dan completely got the point when he watched Dr. Strangelove:

Quote:
Dan Evans (danlevans@yahoo.com)
Arkansas USA

Date: 16 July 2003
Summary: We need a sequel today

Sometimes a subject is so serious it can only be looked at in satire. Nuclear mistakes and dooms day arrival are such. Dr. Stangelove is a classic satire covering this subject. It was very effective. The acting was outstanding or even better than that. The technical end was remarkable for 1963 and still excellent today.

We have a serious problem today with North Korea and a funny little fat dictator. No one really wants to think about the implications. Maybe we need a sequel of Dr. Strangelove.
Houston didn't like it, but he sure likes Texas!

Quote:
Houston
Texas

Date: 14 July 2003
Summary: You've got to be kidding right?

This movie is really outdated, and unless you live in the 50's, you'll find it to be stupid as well. Peter Sellers sux as an actor, and to have him play an American President, was just as about as stupid as him playing a German scientist. It would've been better if he were to remain a mute and have Miss Foreign Affairs (aka Tracy Reed) to transcribe whatever he wants to say. I rented this flick, cause it's one of my father's all time favs, but he's still stuck in the 50's himself, so I can see where he's coming from. I love Slim Pickins, Darth Varder, and Patton, but the rest of the crew can ride that bomb and send the film back to the can where it came from. #11 on the all-time lists ??? You must be smokin something when watching this film. I had to watch it in three shifts, it was so boring. In fact, I'm late with the rental because I hate to return something that I didnt' finish seeing, no matter how bad a film it is.
Gotta run, catch y'all later!
