It's too expensive for little guys to show their movies in theaters. It's a lot easier and less costly to just release direct and eliminate that portion of a the overall budget. It's an extra high risk investment on top of the actual production investment that may not be recouped. Better to be in the hole 30 million than 40 million I suppose.

There was a sequel planned, but Campbell will not be involved and so it is now up in the air.

Yeah, I know how the "budget" thing works, but fuck, for movies that are definitely going to get tons of viewers, a large studio usually likes to pick them up for a slice.

At the Loft Cinema in Tucson, AZ they had a screening of this followed by a Bruce Campbell meet and greet, but i couldn't get tickets.

Well, in my opinion, Haff doesn't have to come back. I know the character was written into the script, but you could get someone else to fight Bubba Nosferatu. Wish Bruce would want to repraise the role though.
