Old Feb 13th, 2003, 12:21 AM        Opinions on Dead to Rights, War of the Monsters?
I'm a bit out of the loop. Has anybody played 'Dead to Rights' and 'War of the Monsters' for the PS2 and are they worth getting?

War of the Monsters is a good game, but Dead to Rights is only mediocre. Go with War of the Monsters if you want a solid fighting game. Maybe The Getaway or Max Payne if you want something like Dead to Rights.

Yeah, I was thinking about war of the monsters. I'll pay that fucking deposit at the video store so I can rent ps2 games because of that game

Well, I'm already a sorta fan of Max Payne (except for those stupid Act 2 and 3 prologues...shit), so is Dead to Rights more of the same? I know the PS2 version had a few things tweaked but so far, it looks worth a rental at least.

Dead to Rights is basically a poor mans Max Payne, if you're bored you might want to give it a try, otherwise, you'd be better off playing Max Payne a lot. Although, Dead to Rights does have an invincible dog that disarms people, minigames, and strippers. Graphics aren't that great though.

Well, I'll give it a try. I've spent more money on things I've liked less. Plus, I don't have the balls to go pay off my late fee at Hollywood Video...not that they have it for some reason.

Blockbuster has gotten well over a hundred dollars from me in late fees, it's about 10 bucks per late fee. They also thought I stole the games after a while though. I actually haven't played Dead to Rights yet, maybe I'll give it a try.

I would never step foot in a Blockbuster. Most of the time, their stores are either trashy as fuck, understocked, and censored or just a lot of wasted space that have nothing in the way of backstock. Not to mention they own their collections agency and deliberately make most of their money off of late fees.

I'd just rather buy movies online. It's cheaper and you can keep them forever if you want.

Blockbuster is always a good place to burn some time. I've spent an hour in there just reading their magazines and pretending to look around at movies with some friends. One time, I switched off this dirty movie (I think it was called "Single Sex"...) and put it behind "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" since there were no more copies of it left, and I came back a few minutes later and it was gone. Someone went home with what they thought was "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" without checking it and ended up with some porno... or one of the worker's just put it in it's right place. Let's just hope it was the first one.

Oh man, that's a laugh right there. Not as funny as the time I was working at some supermarket's grocery store and some asshole rented Naked Lunch so his children could watch it after Sunday School. Now that's comedy!

I borrowed Dead To Rights off my brother. I'm almost finished with it. It only borrows one thing from Max Payne, and that's slow-motion jumps. But that's it. It's definitely not the center of strategy. It's like Force Speed in Jedi Outcast, it's only one of the shitloads of things you can do. It also keeps your interest with different types of levels. The story line, however, is somewhat stinking of Max Payne, but if you play a game like this for storyline you're looking in the wrong place.

All in all, it's okay. Definitely worth playing if you can borrow it off your friends. There's something about blowing away thousands of people that just tickles my fancy.
