1. setup is no excuse for tepid, stiff writing.

2. "classic storytelling" is a euphamism for velveeta grade mediocrity that allow assholes like speilberg to still release sentimental claptrap. a new hope has awful dialogue and aborted character development. it's unimaginative, so i guess you could call it "classic."

there's a diffrence between unimaginative and unoriginal. a new hope is original in story if not in theme, but it is BLAND. it lacks well-constructed, intricate, or even flat out imagination. sci-fi existed before this, so lucas merely made a dull story in it, imo.

the first significantly popular ones. Or at leas the first series or films. First hes just a whiney Farm boy who doesn't get what he wants, then he finds out he has daddy issues, then hes all angry at the world and cuts off his dads hand, then hes all happy and seeing ghosts.

I'm not trying to defend the series in any way. The films arent great but none of them are completeley bad.

How would it ruin it for you? The trailers pretty much give you the storyline.

If you examine most of the sci-fi films made before 1977, i don't see how you could come to the conclusion that it was unimaginative. The plot/story itself is cliche, but the special effects, characters, and overall artwork of the movie are trully innovative.

its not the storyline im worried about too much, but the sequence of events (if that makes sense) such as action scenes or smaller storyline developments and such.

i hope general grievious is as cool as he looks and how the toonami series suggests, unlike darth maul, who looks bad-ass but is a bit of a pussy in the game

It's the earliest sci-fi story I can think of where all of the amazing technology and strange creatures are taken for granted. Heck, part of the reason that the Special Editions and prequels suck so much ass is how much emphasis is put on how amazing everything is, which completely pisses on the universe first established in the 70s.

I'm pretty gay, huh.

My brother is a huge starwars fan, and he seems to have completely forgotten that this movie is coming out. Now its all "oh boy, charlie and the chocolate factory!"
And I agree, when is charlie and the chocolate factory coming out?

Hoefully Lucas will have been too busy killing off characters to write "My young padawan" into the dialogue

is it a rule now if you want something to be 'darker' than its predecesors you just have to add a scar over the main characters eye

works for prince of persia
