Great review.

And I totally agree about the tour: it is NOT to be missed! I saw it two weeks back in Milwaukee, and it's fully amazing. TWO FULL SETS of music! They play the album full-on, no banter, no pauses... and then interact with the crowd during the second set. Amazing sensation, that show...

Not that I should be complaining, but rather than this worn-out alt rock/indie appreciation we see week after week, why not review an album that's comically horrible? you know... like the site name implies

What's wrong with some serious music reviews? I'd rather read about this stuff than shitty comedy albums and fucking primus.

@HolyJack - Because it's the same thing every week. 'This is one of my favourite alt rock/indie albums and here' why'. A little variety, you know? Like -ROG- once did a review of a band who basically did NES-style music. Just something new and different every now and then that makes people open their eyes to what music is really out there (whether its funny, wierd, or just incredibly awesome). Alt-rock appreciation day does little for that

Thanks, but I could never write as cleverly as the boys of I-Mockery. Hence my criticism, which, believe it or not, even the best deserve at times. It's healthy. Especially when this segment, with all its entertainment potential, gets a handful of comments while the other Weekly Spotlights get a dozen+ easily.

i had the privilege of seeing this band at lollapalooza last week and i agree that you should definitely see the album performed live

i've loved this band since i first heard them probably 4 years ago and i agree this might be their strongest album yet (the others are all great in very different ways)

best album of 09 so far, i'd be surprised if anything better came along and if it did, shit this is a great year for music

Bazilisk, I am just now seeing your comments about this. All four of the I-Mock writers are into different music, so you're going to get different stuff from each of us.

If you look back at my reviews you'll see that I've done mainstream artists like Nine Inch Nails, Weezer, and Bruce Springsteen, a lot of indie stuff, but also lesser known bands that I feel deserve more exposure, like Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band. My reviews have dipped into many different genres and styles, and that's just me. There are three other guys writing reviews here.

I've also featured albums by "humor" bands like The Dead Milkmen and The Aquabats. The fact is that a lot of "humor" music just plain sucks, or gets old after the first few listens. And comically horrible? The reason I don't review stuff like that is that I haven't heard enough of it. If an artist out there makes my ears and brain bleed (say, Kid Rock for example), then I'm not going to waste my time listening to their albums. I've never heard one of Kid Rock's albums, therefore I couldn't review it. The closest I'm going to come to that is when an artist I like puts out something that is disappointingly craptastic.
