I have a friend who swears by that bullshit 'ear candling'.

It was used a lot int the health food grocery store I worked at. I was told by many that it works great, but they where dirty hippies.

I was this close (as I pinch my forefinger and thumb) to trying an ear candle after a buddy of mine sang it's praises. Then I read a Straight Dope article about it. Cecil Adams FTW.

Who the hell invented that, anyway? Who decided it would be a good idea to put a lighted candle into a bodily orifice?

It does sound crazy, but then again, you see all these viral videos with kids sticking bottle rockets in their butt crack. Some wise guy probably figured that since people are gullible and candles are made of wax, he need only make them believe that the wax of a candle came out of their ear to make them buy the candle. Or it comes from some ancient technique. Since I was a hair away from trying it, I'll go with ancient technique.
