anyway the conan forums are having an emotionally-charged discussion about it at the moment and i'm really curious what drives guys into a blind fagrage when the subject of hitting women comes up. what's the big deal?

Obviously I'd enjoy hitting anyone who deserved it. I'm not in the game of hitting partners over petty arguments though; that's a touch melodramatic and crazy for me.

Way back in grade 8 I hit a girl square in the face.
Scenario: this girl stole my jacket, and I wasn't having that. I'd go to grab it and she'd pull it away etc. So it got to the point where I asked her to give it to me. She refused three times. I told her I'd ask again, and if she didn't give it to me, I'd punch her.
Bitch just didn't know when to quit.

I look at it this way:

I would never hit Re. If she hit me as hard as she could, it might leave a bruise at best. If I hit her even half as hard as I could, it would break her face. I just think it's pathetic when a guy can't exercise the physical self-control when he's really mad at a woman. Nothing wrong with yelling at each other or whatever, but when things turn physical, I think the advantage is on the side of the guy in most cases.... not to mention beating the shit out of somebody doesn't really prove any point in a verbal dispute that you were having. It's usually what some hotheads will resort to when they've been proven wrong and want to save face. "Oh shit, she's actually got a point there!
