This amendment raises taxes on ciggarettes by 10 cents a fag. Which makes for much more per pack and all that. The language in is it clear that it goes not so much to anti smoking commercials that never work, but the HEALTHCARE system. Makes it hard to decide, cause us poor Missouri folk sure could use a doctors visit.

Smokers are pissed that it's going so far against them, I quit and always thought it's a bad habit and hated the health drawbacks. At one point I wanted to do a control group of women who were pregnant and never smoked to women who were pregnant and wuit smoking to see if they had an increased risk during pregnancy. But then again it is their right. When Tobacco was first introduced Prince James the first of England hated it and would have anyone who smoked or chewed in front of him thrown in the dungeon saying it was disgusting and rude, He made pamphlets calling it sotweed and said how he hated it, but he made it clear it was everyone's right to choose to do it in private.

Now i'd love to see a world where no one smoked but i do NOT want the government deciding what personal choices are sin and what are not. After all this government has considered putting surgeon general warnings on french fries but never considered putting anything about your liver, your brain, your driving ability or even how attractive the ugly chicks will be on your beer and whiskey. (I blame the lobbyests)

Makes me think about one OTHER extreme. Would you support a large tax on alchohol if all the money went towards giving america a universal healthcare system?

yeah, it should go to tazers and radar guns but it's not about cause and effect it's about supplying a need. if it were about cause and effect it would go to divorce courts and black eye ice packs for missouri wives when they ask where there husband was all night.
