the skating part was massively fun. The only gripe about the surfing was those damned seagulls. Seriously, without them, it would have been great, but ugh, I'm sure I threw my controller at least a few dozen times because of them.

and yes, Kool Kat was AWESOME.

Yet another prime example for the I-mockery article on random killer birds...

I remember wanting this game so bad when it came out. I think I played a demo in a store at one point and really, really wanted it. Never did get it, but I found it to rent a few years later, gave it a try, and decided I was then really, really glad I never owned it because I, unfortunately, fall into the "hate it" end of the relationship with this game. Mostly because of the surfing, but it didn't really hold my interest all that much as a kid. Not longer than the rental, anyway.

I know what you mean... believe me, if it wasn't for those seagulls on many occasions, I would've made it to the pier. Kool Kat and Chester Cheetah need to duke it out for cool supremacy.

Indeed they did... the main difference was that it got harder and you had less lives to spare on each level the further you made it in the game.

I used to own this game as a kid. I hated the Skateboarding, but loved the surfing. I was pretty much the champ of the waves.

Also, Thrilla Gorilla is a surfing monkey, so he beats Kool Kat just for the ability to whip his shit at the opposition.

Unfortunately, whipping shit while playing this game always got my friends pissed at me. I owned this at a yound age and it took about ten years before I could actually make it to the pier without bailing.

Games like this one made me glad that NES controllers were invincible.
